Do can't miss guys exist? If they do, don't we need a #1 pick for that? With the front office, HC, and talent we have, the Rams won't be in play for a "can't miss" QB for a while.

I think a better question is, is there a potential starter that you can develop with a year or two behind Stafford? I personally think Simoson is that man. Others may disagree.
First practice about to kick off in Mobile. I think with this year's QB class it would be wise to look very deep at them and identify the how's and why's some of them disappointed.

Also and again Robertson's a legit prospect, dude had zero defense, no real run game, and was playing from behind a lot. Has the basic tool set. When you consider what the Rams need, which is a QB3 with potential to start after cooking on the bench, assuming he does the work... There's options.

So I don't get the need some have to stick their nose in the air with the QB position. All these guys are dice rolls. This year's dice rolls are steeper odds, but the Rams should take a shot on one of them. Way I see it if the dude has the raw tools (which quite a few of them do), fits the offense (which quite a few of them do), and has the competitive drive and desire you want to see (this is the question) then take a shot on him where you know he'll be there at the best value.

Oh come on! We can't look at one play to make an assessment. I know we're all fans - i.e. emotional, recency bias, not very scientific, etc. - but you're better than that. You may well be right, but one play in the most recent game is not the evidence.
I'm not just pointing at that one play. Williams was also inactive many times. That play to me just sums up why he's gone. Too old, too slow (thx to age, speed goes first), and he will provide cap relief.

Why did this pop into my mind when I read the beginning? :laugh4:

Robertson scares me when it comes to the neck up, but I admit that he's one of the better options in this class after Mendoza (who is going #1 without any shadow of a doubt). Chambliss - if the Jets or Browns don't take him with a top ten pick - would make me a happy camper, Payton (big time tools and I feel he has the mental processing to play as a high-end backup for a long time, but his competition is a concern) and Robertson (again, love the toolset, just not the mental tools), I'd be fine with, Gronowski has been interesting as a running quarterback, and for a sixth or seventh, you could convince me.

But you couldn't convince me to take a chance on a lot of the others; I don't even think they'd be upgrades on Stetson, let alone a backup to Stafford.

Willis is going to get paid
Yes and no. I don't think he'll command top dollar that most QBs would since he hasn't proven anything but I obviously could be wrong. All it takes is one team. I just think teams will be careful with what's offered because sinking too much money in the wrong QB hurts more than any other position. He's definitely getting a raise no matter what. I think he'll be offered around 20 mil with incentives built in. Once again, could be wrong. I'd only go after Willis if Stafford definitely retires or the Rams only want him back for one more year. However with that one year part, we'd probably get outbid. Guess the best selling point would be get coached by McVay in a similar offense he's excelled at (small sample size).

Not top dollar but easily in the 12-20 mill per year range

Sounds like talking heads feel he'll get a contract in line with something like Darnold's/Mayfields.
