When was the last time a QB, who was the consensus #1 overall didn’t get picked #1 overall?
Not saying Moore doesn’t have folks who believe in him, but there’s no way he was gonna go #1 overall.
We see it every year, and the guy gets picked #1 everytime
OK

Best move he could make. He's not ready and another year of college ball should help.
I don't think it's all that significant for that reason. I think it's the right move because the Jets have proven over and over again that they kill QB careers. Darnold and Geno resurrected their careers after leaving NYJ, but I can't think of the last QB they drafted who succeeded there. Maybe Chad Pennington? Though, he had an up and down career there. If we don't count Pennington, I guess it's Ken O'Brien in the early 80s. But even he only had a few good years.

The Jets cant do anything right. While Moore may or may not have went back to school to avoid being a Jet, it could have been completely different.
Had they done the right thing, and bounced Glenn and brought in a HC with offense acumen, it could have been a perfect spot.
Jets have a really good and young o-line, a top level WR in Wilson, a stud RB in Hall (who they likely have to tag to keep), tons of cap space and 5 1st round picks in the next 2 drafts.
Could have brought in Moore and signed a legit bridge vet QB and possibly drafted Sadiq
Alas, its the Jets so here we are

I'm not sure firing Glenn after a year with the QBs he was stuck with is fair to him. Don't know that I'd want the job if I were a prospective HC after seeing that. IMO, the bigger issue with the Jets is the leadership. Specifically, the ownership. Total dumpster fire.

We could trade back again, as we did last draft, out of 13 and still pick up a very good player in this draft (somewhere in the late 20s to 40s) while receiving that teams next years 1st (to give us two in 2027). IMO, that would be the best outcome possible, as we plan for Stafford’s retirement - because we would still be picking impact talents even without pick 13. Realistically, who is going to give us their first next year for pick 32! :-)

What ever the final draft order of players, beyond 13 there are not going to be many if any blue chip prospects. So, there is a distinct possibility another team would trade up to reach out spot for a player they fall in love with.

There are a ton of great prospects in the top 100, so there is every chance we could end up with a better player in the 30s than any of the players taken in the top 10, not least because of all of the intangibles that go into one emerging as an all-pro type player including who they play for

Are there really that many players in the draft who are a cut above our own starters and who will be available when we pick?

Just putting it out there

Been going through Beck's games, who is a QB that I have never liked due to his dopey dog look and disappointing performances with Georgia. And I have to say that what Cristobal has done with him is impressive as hell. That staff has been putting together fantastic mixes of players and this year was no different, but they're in the title game this year in part because of how well Beck is playing.

So even though I don't like the kid at all I have to admit maybe he's been a bit under the radar given how he's playing. On film to me it looks like the same dude who lacks that feel on his deep ball, which is something I presume McVay does not like. Also I have never liked his tendency to lead receivers into big hits. He just sort of lacks that awareness and instinct the top dudes have in those regards.

However on the flip side you see what he can do when he runs his progressions with discipline. And in that last playoff game they beat Ole Miss because of how well he played at QB. He showed great prep with his checks at the line. He destroyed them on third downs. The dude is a really good ball distributor. Reminds me a bit of Goff physically, in that lean build with legit 6'4" height, a good but not elite arm, and better athleticism than you think.

I don't think he's going to have a good game vs Indiana's defense. But then again I didn't see them making it to the title game either which is a testament to how well Beck's playing. Just feels like he bears a little mentioning, given that he's putting together a superb bounceback season and has all the tools. Does he love the game? Can he lead a team in the NFL? No idea. His film, however, is pretty nice under Cristobal.

They've played to his strengths and tried to stay away from his weaknesses. Klatt said in the CFP he was 1 of 12 on passes of 15 air yards or more. That's 12 attempts out of 63. So on everything underneath he's 41 of 51. That works, especially when you can get Toney the ball behind the LOS and he can take it for huge chunks, including to the house.

I like Chambliss and Ty, surely interested in seeing the measurables. 6'0+ is absolutely a non negotiable for the 1st/2nd round
I like Simpson a lot more than most. Where many Bama QB's are surrounded with incredible talent, I truly believe Simpson carried that team a heck of a lot further than they deserved.

There is something there no doubt and the lack of talent around him, especially up front, compared to years past was noticeable (on both sides of the ball), hence why he declared IMO

Even so, he says he turned down huge offers from other college programs including Miami and Old Miss. You got to love Simpson’s reason for turning down the $ and his belief in himself becoming a pro

On a side note, according to the top 100 lists that I have seen, their Center, Parker Brailsford, could be an absolute steal if he’s still available in rounds 3 or 4. He is definitely someone who could win a starting job here
