Honestly, I hadn't heard of the guy they have at #1 - Joe Fagnano (unfortunate name IMO). Looking at his game log and the kid can ball apparently. 25/1 TD/INT ratio is absurd. Of course, he hasn't played against top notch competition, but I'll have to look into him as he is a Senior and has great size. It appears he has some rushing ability also.
Said this before that I think the media sites are missing the bus on some of these QB prospects. I expect we're gonna see some extra churn on the lists due to this, as they get wind of guys they've overlooked. Fagnano is one of them, and I think Payton is another.

I was watching the Pitt kid the other night and damn he's putting up some numbers. But I don't like his throwing motion, it looks like he has to torque his whole body to get the ball moving.

That CBS list is interesting though. Got multiple QBs who are on it I have not watched yet.

The Pitt kid is only 18 years old. Amazing talent

It would be nice but I don't think Mendoza has a snowball's chance in hell of sliding outside that top 3. He's got it all. I think he's the slam dunk top pick, unless he suffers an injury or takes a major nosedive in his game which seems unlikely.

He took a hit yesterday in his stock, no doubt about it. His problem is that being on the small side and not having an elite arm means your film has to put you up there to go at the top. So he could still go in the top group I'd say if he finishes strong, but if not then McVay will have a shot at him.

And again I don't like QBs who are under 6'2". To take one of them they have to have something else about them. He throws with anticipation and sees and reads well, so I think that's enormously valuable. It puts him in the first round I think, but where in the first probably comes down to how he finishes the year and his pro day workout. If he throws with authority that's a big part of it for a smaller dude like him.
As good a year as Simpson is having, if he's small, doesn't have an elite arm, and has under 25 starts, I could see him sliding a bit. Probably not out of the 1st round but into the 10-32 range.

Not sure that's completely true, some mechanics can be improved with coaching. Aaron Rodgers and Josh allen both had mechanical "flaws" that coaching helped improve. And then there are the guys like Kosar and Rivers who were quite successful with awkward release points
Aaron Rodgers is actually a great example of what you can do. Rodgers had a longer throwing motion because he held the ball low. Instead of trying to overhaul his throwing motion, they had him make a small change, holding the ball up by his chin/ear to shorten it. And it worked (after a lot of reps). But it worked because they didn't need to overhaul how he actually through the ball. You can make small changes. But it is very, very difficult to change the motion as a whole. I can live with Mateer's motion.

Tyler Shough Part Deux.

He's been in college for 7 years.

Head Coach Jim Mora

From what I understand UConn has a pretty good WR in Skyler Bell, too.

Rodgers held the ball high coming out of college, up by his ear and they lowered it. Alas I can live with Mateer motion as well, he throws from a ton of angles

Was that it? I thought the opposite. But yes, either way, it's easy make small tweaks like that because you're not having to mess with the full motion to do it.

Yeah he held the ball real high next to his ear in college. Not important, your point is totally valid. Cleaning up some things isn’t changing mechanics all together.

An interesting thing right now with the current NFL Draft order. There's a decent chance that neither of the teams holding the first 2 picks at this time, Titans and Giants, will be taking a Quarterback, and theoretically would look to trade their pick for a "bag." Giants definitely not taking one.

Fernando Mendoza anyone......????

Anyone consider Georgia's QB Gunner Stockton? He's only a junior and may not declare, but he's having a pretty good season thus far.

Maybe it's just me, but IMO, both Mendoza and Simpson are the type of QBs you select at your spot but not trade up to get.

Does it bother anyone else that Kurtis Rourke put up huge numbers for Indiana just last year?

I have a feeling he's going to be doing caveman commercials when he gets to the NFL for that insurance company. Dude looks like he could deliver lethal head butts.

I don't know. Stockton honestly reminds me of Stetson 2.0. Same height and everything.

It doesn't bother me. Yes, Cignetti's system is great. Yes, De Boer's system is great. Yes, both Indiana and Alabama have a ton of weapons (Elijah Sarratt, Omar Cooper Jr., and to an extent, Charlie Becker for Indiana, while Alabama has Ryan Williams, Germie Bernard, Isaiah Horton, and Lotzier Brooks to an extent), yes, they have solid O-line play. That much is true.

But these two are the cream of the crop for a reason. Their arms are great, Simpson's sheer anticipation is outstanding, and Mendoza has shown the ability to make off-schedule plays.

I'd be ecstatic if either one of them were our pick; hell, Dante Moore or LaNorris Sellers, should he come out, would be great choices. Even a late first choice of John Mateer, Jayden Maiava, or Brendan Sorsby would be great for me; to me, McSnead's earned the right to decide our future. Hell, Sawyer Robertson, Darian Mensah, and Sam Leavitt could be a later choice after we take a blue-chip tackle/receiver/corner, and I'd be happy.

There's a lot of QBs in this class that look like good prospects.
