To me, very meh although I can see him as a depth signing if he doesn't break the bank. I want a legit ass CB. Draft a high one or trade for McDuffie is KC doesn't want to extend him.

Our rush was a lot weaker towards the end. How much of that was scheme vs actual performance? Let's just say there's a lot of times where the D line didn't get aby pressure too. If a legit pass rusher falls in the draft, I could see the Rams looking at that as well (not the very first pick though)
I think he's better than meh. Plus he's a big body CB we desperately need. Him and one of 5 or 6 options in round 1 or even round 2 and we're light years ahead of this group.
None. I'd triple-dip in the draft, re-sign McCreary and Curl and roll with them.

Get your top rated CB in the draft in first round - that’s the most important thing to do.
Get another guy day 3.

Agree completely. Curious what kind of money McCreary and Durant will get on the open market.
I think Durant’s AAV will be surprisingly high. I’m not saying it should be, as I am not a big fan. However, teams will have $ to spend, and I don’t think there will be much value available. That would translate to some unusually high AAV.
For example, I could see Alontae Taylor going for $12-$15M per-year AAV. I like Taylor but not that much.
This is it. I don't see a triple dip at corner, but at least one first round pick and the second round pick should be corners. Hell, third round pick could be a safety and well.
He's definitely better than "meh." He's physical and feisty, but prone to giving up a deep ball or two. I like his fit, personally.
I like Jaylen Watson. 6'2" 197, 32+" arms, 4.49 40, and one of the best run defenders in the NFL at CB. He had a good year in coverage this year and was off to a solid start last year before he broke his leg. He's not an elite CB, but he gives us size, physicality, and good cover skills outside. Those are all things we need. I'd still grab at least a couple CBs in the Draft, but I think we need a reliable veteran starter too.
Lots of talk the Cheifs won't or can't pay McDuffie as well. Might be very expensive though he'd be good.
Reported $58 million in cap space, where are we spending it? Just curious your thoughts since you say no big spending.
It would be a great add, he can also blitz with that frame. Draft 1 @ 13 which could be a top 3 rated CB and add a quality player like Watson. Guys like Taylor or maybe even Newsome (neither are optimal but likely an improvement) may be in play too, but I like Watsons size along with a rookie stud, I like Delane & Hood. McCoy with the ACL scares me a bit
Newsome was really really bad after being traded to Jacksonville, he need to really rebound.
Working that contract in with the upcoming existing player negotiations may be a tall task but 100 we need an upgrade and it may come at a price dependent on draft strategy. Veteran leadership would be a ++ along with being a proven player
Agreed, the hope would be a change of scenary and scheme would pay dividends and he doesn't break the bank.
Honestly just adding FA names that make a little sense in what I see as a unfavorable market for us. Those proven players that are available are either already expensive or they are certain to be expensive in this market.
The balance is so tricky, pay here and and you can't pay there, thankfully our FO has mostly been great at this game

It's probably going to take a Jalen Ramsey like contract to get him if he doesn't get franchised though.
I thought the team had moved away from that sort of expenditure at the position but then they signed Landman and Lake so who knows.
I'd double dip in the draft, 1 high, 1 mid round and still sign a solid UFA.

I don't have a clue who's good and who's not on that list. Anybody know whether Stokes, Melifonwu or Okudah are any good. They're 6'1", 6'3" and 6'1" respectively and look like they won't break the bank.
A lot of football comes down to blocking and tackling. You could draw up the best scheme ever vs my team, but if you have fourth graders and I have sixth graders my kids will push yours around and beat your ass. Then postgame all the mediots would hail my brilliance.
So players matter.
Now in the NFL the talent differential isn't all that crazy. Great coaches can make a big difference because they maximize the talent and they provide well defined roles so the scouts can focus in on key traits that maximize draft value. I think this is why great coaches like McVay always seem to be in the mix. But when it comes down to who walks off the field with the trophy, it is the players who determine that.
Once you get to that final four group it's all teams with top end coaching and good scheme. Players get it done at that point. Or they don't.
If he's available, you consider him. But they have McDuffie under contract. Watson won't be. If I were them, I'd pay McDuffie.
I doubt he gets franchised. Chiefs are deep in the hole on the cap. With Nohl Williams and Trent McDuffie under contract, I expect they let Watson walk, like they did with Charvarius Ward and L'Jarius Sneed.
