Which 2025 draftee would you trade up for, if any? Why or why not?

In one of the games last year (Bears or Raiders maybe) Romo said Kyren was one of the smartest players he’s ever talked to. He said it was like talking to a QB. The other announcer agreed. McVay values high football IQ and character. Replacing those traits isn’t always an easy thing to do.

That's great. But his market value is likely $12 - $14 mil. and his football IQ is more evidence to support that. Do you see the Rams paying that amount? Snead is on record as being reluctant to pay RBs 2nd contracts.

I wouldn't want to pay him for 4 years. I see him having 2 more good years at most.

Well maybe 4 years with cap money basically being halved in year 3 and nil in year 4.

I think they will try to sign him next winter. If he wants to much they will move on.

Probably a make it break it season for KWill this season. Have an all pro year with less than 3 fumbles and I believe Rams will give him a 3 year extension.

I doubt it if that’s the actual amount. But Snead said a few months ago that they’d like to sign him. Two years ago he was the second best back in the league. This year the line injuries held the entire offense back but he still ran well.

I would consider trading up for Abdul Carter. He and Verse would set the new premium standard for a pair of edge players. A pair like this could make up for a lot of other deficiencies on defense. QBs would be constantly pressured and both are stout run defenders. Could revolutionize how defenses are built. Right now, the big thing is to have 2 stud WRs, why not be ahead of the next craze. Damn, nix this thought, almost forgot we will need a new QB1 in the near future, but what if we built a defense that even a Garappolo led offense could outscore?

That is why Cleveland will take him at #2 overall, to pair him with Myles Garrett
There's nothing to consider as the cost to trade up would be so high and would likely need to include Verse

Still thinking the Rams sit tight at #26, because many QB needy teams are gonna jump up to get one & there's bound to be a blue-chip player fall in our laps. But trading up to say #20 isn't out of the question, because if teams DON'T jump up to get QB's, then the "first tier" players will be gone by #21.
Lots of discussion about TE in this thread, but it's obvious to me that, because we still have Higbeast & there's lots of quality depth at TE in this draft, that McVay & Snead would be crazy to jump up to #20 if say Loveland falls that far because there's others that could still be available in the 3rd round. Warren of course won't so he's outta the convo for me.
But ya our ppg last year was weak. We HAVE to get more explosive on O. There's options later in the draft at TE, WR & RB, but if say Burden falls or Egbuka or Omarion or even Golden (he could), it's possible Snead jumps up to #20 to get them.
But I don't see them jumping up to grab a D player. They would lose at least a 3rd round pick, who would have been the "explosive" O player they need.

Looking at 2nd contracts, age, production, and pedigree, Jonathon Taylor, Josh Jacobs, and Hubbard would be the three best comps. KW's production is closer to Taylor and Jacobs but of course those two are perceived as being more talented as they were early-round draft picks. Production may trump though. I think he'll be below Taylor, above Hubbard, and near Jacobs.

Wait. I may be misunderstanding what you're saying. Jacobs was tagged by LVR. He signed as a free agent with the Packers and got 4 / $48 mil. on the open market.

Right, he was tagged for 10+ mill, and like Saquon they restructured it. So he was sitting at close to 12 mill when he hit FA.
RB's dont have the negotiation power of QB, so the baseline does matter with the new contract
Kyren is at 5.4 mill for his base line, which in of itself was a huge increase based on performance reward
Im likely his biggest fan on here and cant see where the Rams would offer him more than 8-9 mill. And I dont see where on an open market he has nearly the value he has with the Rams

Now I'm tracking the relevance from your perspective.

We're not very far apart. I too see the Rams offering $8-9 mil at most. The difference is, I don't expect him to go for that. If I was a top 3 most productive back over the last two years, I wouldn't. The benefit of the open market to players is that there are 31 other teams. One of them will want to pay a top 5 productive RB even with his warts.

I still hope you're right though. $8 mil would be a great price to not have to worry about the RB position. We could just add to it with a change of pace back.
