I will go on record as saying if Lemon is gone we should trade down and take Simpson, who is my favourite QB both in this class and next years, if we take into consideration availability.

I would then take a WR next and another later at 207 as our designated kick returner.

I would use some draft capital, if we trade down, to move up for Bernaise who’s a stud! He’s my second favourite WR in this draft based on likely availability

That should still leave us with an extra pick in the second round for BPA at any number of positions. I would take the best lineman whether OG OT or Center

Here are some possibilities. There are lots of good players, who could start straight away, to keep an eye on outside the first round

Reactions: Coliseum Ram
Dan Graziano on Rams /Simpson

Let's skip a few picks and go with the Rams, who hold the No. 13 pick as a result of last year's trade with Atlanta. They traded their own first-rounder, No. 29, to the Chiefs for cornerback Trent McDuffie. So, No. 13 is the Rams' only pick in the top 60 selections. They haven't made a pick that high since 2016, when they traded up to take quarterback Jared Goff at No. 1, so there isn't a lot on which to base a prediction of what they'll do with this pick. They appear to have a loaded roster and not a ton of immediate needs.

Most mock drafts seem to have the Rams taking a wide receiver, but the last wideout they took in the first round was Tavon Austin in 2013. In the meantime, they've established a good track record of finding wide receivers in later rounds -- Cooper Kupp in the third, Josh Reynolds in the fourth, Puka Nacua in the fifth. You get the idea.

So, if the Rams think they can find the impact receiver in the second round or later, what do they do in the first? Could be anything. Some people are even watching to see if they make a big move up for Love, who would be a very exciting cherry on top of their offensive sundae. There's always the chance they trade down the way they did last year.

And then there's the Ty Simpson factor. The Rams have been connected to the Alabama quarterback in league circles for a while now. It's an open secret that they like him. When they still had the No. 29 pick, they seemed like the team to watch for Simpson. But since No. 13 feels too soon to take him, that talk has quieted down. Now, many wonder if Simpson could tumble out of the first round entirely.

But as I said, the Rams don't appear to have any crying needs for which the 13th pick could help them in their effort to win the Super Bowl at home. So, could they trade down from No. 13 and still take Simpson later in the round? Possibly. Could they just bite the bullet and take Simpson at No. 13 if they like him that much? Unlikely, but again, this is a tough team to predict.

If the Rams take Simpson in the first round, they're likely to face criticism for not finding immediate help for a win-now team with 38-year-old reigning MVP Matthew Stafford at quarterback. But would they care? This is the "F--- them picks" franchise, remember? If Los Angeles truly believes Simpson has the potential to be Stafford's successor, I don't think it's ridiculous to think it could go ahead and take him.

Add in that division-rival Arizona -- which many believe is the real team to watch for Simpson -- holds the 34th pick and would be a candidate to either draft him there or trade back into the first round to land him and it makes the Rams/Simpson theories a little bit spicier.

This is crazy..
I'd rather have Ioane (Penn St guard) at this spot instead of a QB.
He doesn’t have any real details. It could happen - but don’t take him putting Simpson on rams pick at 13 as any real intel in the rams pick.

Think about it - if the Rams were sooo high on Simpson that he’s their guy at 13, there’s no freaking way they’d be telling a single soul about it.

Unless Russini is back prowling the TGIF across from the Rams draft room, the media stuff you hear from these talking heads is either for views or their own speculation (which isn’t worth much).

This is true. It's just a mock, Todd doesn't have "intel."

The Rams aren't going to draft Simpson. They are looking to extend Stafford beyond this year. If they get a QB in this draft it will be mid to late rounds.
I pray you are correct.

How do you know that we are extending Stafford for more than one year before we see the contract? I hope so, but we do not know that because it could be a three contract but effectively a one year deal. He will get to decide at the end of the season so let’s give him a 7 year deal. What difference would it make if he decides to retire? I am not hearing anything from Stafford or McVay that isn’t “it’s a year to year decision”

If Lemon is there I would take him if not the next group of WRs are not that far apart from each other

One thing for sure though if Stafford has said he wants to fully commit to playing for another three years, which sadly I doubt, they will not announce it until after the draft because it would tip their hand when other teams like us are guessing based on his imminent retirement

Yeah Im with you. Everyone here has “their guys” they want, me included, and it’s natural to be disappointed when the Rams go in a different direction….I’ll be eye rolling if the Rams yet again can’t land a special offensive player in favor of a plodding try hard elite blocker etc

But I’d be dumbstruck staring at Simpson being a Ram after pick 13 is turned in. Foam brick meet television.

Honestly Im not buying it at all. The Rams are putting this out in order to get out of #13 if things go South.

They don't have to tell any souls about it for teams to know or suspect that they like him. It was reported today that the Rams called Simpson's camp in November. That's real interest, and the Rams can't keep that call a secret. League insiders will know about that.

It was reported in January that Simpson was told by teamS (plural) that he would be a 1st round pick. That's why he declared. The entire league is going to have an idea of which teams told him this.

That's just two examples. There are more. It's way too hard to keep secrets.

So what the Rams are smartly doing is saying that they're interested in everybody, in all directions. No one else besides them knows where the most interest is, but it's really tough to hide long-standing interest.

Yeah, you have to think if teams actually told him that he obviously told his agent and his agent obviously told all the other teams and insiders to drive up interest.
