What tells you he'll be any good? To me, his sample size is way too small. There's a stat out there that QBs with very minimal college starts mostly end up being shit in the NFL. It's extremely possible that Simpson will blow and I personally wouldn't be that surprised. NFL is a whole different beast than college.

What tells me he'll be any good? My answer would be his brain, his arm, and his legs. With proper nurturing of course.

Sorry, I think he's way overrated. He's being pushed up the draft because of the lack of QB talent in this draft and because of how important the position is. He's got backup written all over him at best.

You might be right, we're just gonna have to wait and see. WHERE he goes could determine it.

That too plays a part but the NFL typically isn't a patient league no matter how good sit him down sounds. I just don't see it with this guy. There's even better QB prospects coming out next year. Every year, draft pundits push QBs up that have no business being drafted very high. Sanders last year, Clausen, Rosen, etc.

Lets not automatically lump Simpson in with a stereotype. Each individual has the chance to buck the trend. And Simpson is WAY better than those guys besides and is a Football lifer.

Sorry but he fits it like a glove. All the QBs mentioned were being advocated to be picked higher by the media (Sanders was the only one where teams knew he sucked). By the way here's Clausen's stats vs Simpson's......wonder why I'd make a comparison there huh lol

That's weak of you ... both guys came-out in 2009. McShay's Ratings and Rankings were EXTREMELY close but he did give Sanchez a higher-Grade than Stafford (96-95) ... AND ... McShay's pre-Draft-Rating was also higher ... 7th for Sanchez and 8th for Stafford.

That information is from the ESPN article I referenced, that was written by Todd McShay.

503's comment was accurate. You requested the source, and you got it.

He absolutely did. I remember it because it was the first year I started caring about the draft. Admittedly, I wanted Sanchez to the Rams (oops).

However, let’s not forget that there was a lot of doubt about Stafford coming out. I found this article from 2009.

https://www.espn.com/blog/nfcnorth/post/_/id/1620/finding-context-in-the-stafford-debate

“When McShay, Mayock and Jim from Cincinnati express their concerns about Stafford, it's primarily for these reasons: College quarterbacks don't typically improve their accuracy in the NFL. If his decisions were at all suspect against SEC opponents, then it's reasonable to wonder how he will react to professional defenses.”

Alas, here we are at the tail end of a Hall of Fame career.

With that said…I’m a no for Simpson, but won’t care if we take him provided the rest of our draft gets us to the promised land

No I didn't wonder why at all. All I know is Simpson is going to have a career and Claussen did not have one.

Remember when Allar was supposed to be first round draft talent last year? That's exactly how I feel about Tyson, he looked good this year, but he's realistically 2-3 round talent that needs to be a backup for a couple of years in the NFL before stepping on the field. Problem is these guys go shitty ass teams with terrible coaches and it completely implodes their careers. Look no further than Mendoza if he goes to the Raiders. Decent to good QB but will get ruined by a crap team.

Tyson? There's a QB named Tyson? Lol

He might be the next Clausen. No guarantee. Simpson is not some great no miss prospect at all. In fairness to him, those guys are rare and do typically go at the very top of the draft.

The only reason we are comparing Simpson to these two is because of his stature. His game is better and could be elite under McVay. That’s if we rate reading defenses; throwing on time; throwing on keepers; and being involved in play design. Simpson has elite pedigree going all the way back to high school

I think his ceiling is Montana, Brees and Rogers. His floor is Purdy and Nix. I posted Rogers scouting report and guess what it’s similar. He was a polarising prospect who many fans were plain wrong about. He fell to the 20s. He sat behind a hall of famer. He had injury concerns and people said they would carry forward. He wasn’t big enough. Nada nada nada

I believe Simpson will be better than Purdy which to me is a big deal. As for whether he can be great? None of us can know but if the most likely predictor or future performance is past we can expect him to be best in the West and a stud

I would love to see what he can do behind a solid OL with studs at the skill positions. I would take him and Bernard and feel very happy about it even if it required us to trade up for his WR at the top of the second.

For me Bernard might be the best straight up WR in this class outside of Tyson and Tate. He’s going to be a good player for years
This is to response to your Simpson part only.....

Michael Jordan Lol GIF

You mean like Lamar and Hurts?
You got to clearer on what you mean there...... Lamar has legit elite speed and was ok throwing so I could see the intrigue there but Hurts. Man he's lucky he had the team he had. He's not as good as people make him out to be. I'd say he's a slightly above average starter. That Eagles team was stacked.
