my point also being that some times people will say... well that worked in the 1st quarter and we didn't do it again.

That is probably because we didn't get the same look against the same defense again. Coaches sure as shit want to do something again if it worked earlier - but again it's based on what the defense is showing you not so much what the coach wants to do.

Of course he is
Mahomes is head and shoulders better than every QB, and Wilson and Rodgers are on the next tier.
After that, there isnt another QB I'd take over Goff
Seriously, when did it become a thing where every Quarterback has to be Elite? Matt Ryan isn't considered an elite quarterback, but he can look the part at times. Most of the time you get great throws. That's actually why I loved the Matt Ryan comparison for Goff so much. Because that's exactly what I saw and what I wanted. The greatest ability is availability. Never being hurt, being on the field long enough to learn the different defenses and growing as a result of it. Look at the two guys he was drafted with who easily get looked at more than he does. Wentz and Dak, one is always hurt and the other puts up ridiculous numbers with no playoff wins to show for it; and now he's hurt.

We put Goff under the microscope daily because he isn't flashy. He's a throw back as a pure pocket passer. What we need isn't flashy behavior or gaudy numbers; we need results. We need a controlled gun slinger who pushes the ball down the field and carves you up when you least expect it. Most people hate him, but another guy who's done that his entire career is Brady. And Goff averages more yards per attempt than him. So I don't understand the issue. Goff is top 10, and that is good enough for me.

I really don't get these posts. This was probably the most creative he's been.

Guys, not every play is going to work out. The D is going to win sometimes, too, especially one like the Bears. All night tho the Bears D was on their heels, with the exception of the Robert Woods fumble.

Just because he doesn't do what you would've wanted to see, doesn't mean they were bad calls. Running up the middle over and over would be difficult, as evidenced by the last few drives.

The last thing I’m saying is run the ball up the middle.I like the mix & change of direction.Maybe it is getting things on tape?
The Rams will break it down & get better.I think the one thing that really sucked to me was lining up offsides.I think the lines judge was cross-eyed.That said The Rams need to have a way to keep that from happening.

Well, didn’t he cause the fumble that led to their only td, although it was on a running play.

Good call then ? I’ll check it out. Thanks

Bears FO said they would take Quinn over Floyd 10 of 10 times.I don’t know.
T.Lewis made a key 4th dwn. Stop,but not much else.Was a big play though,just as good as a turnover.

Like when they kept saying he played for the Rams last year? That broadcast was soooooo bad.
But infinitely better than Booger....

I am not a BOOGER fan. He was better than the pasty faced guy that tries to dig up trash on players.

Dude does the wrong type of homework & is a disgrace to the HISTORY of MNF. Dennis Miller wasn’t my favorite, but he was at least funny in a respectful way.

Funny thing is that was the first time I really watched or paid much attention to Monday Night football this season.
I liked the TE from Dallas & why he came back just says a lot about the lack of quality of the game.

Honestly don't really think about those things except for the top couple. Off the top of my head Mahomes, Wilson and Rodgers ahead of him. Then a group that Goff is in with other young guys like Allen, Jackson, Murray and Wentz. Wentz has to stay healthy and Allen and Murray need to prove it for a year or two more and Jackson has to become something other than a runner.

After that you've got guys that were better than him in their prime like Brady, Brees, Rivers, Ben and Ryan. I could see people ranking them ahead of Jared but I'm not because they're declining while Jared is ascending.

I'm not sure where to put Dak, theoretically he'd be in the group with Goff but he just cannot lead his team against good teams and that injury might sideline him for next year. Cousins is another I'm not sure where to put. Likely in with Goff but I think we've seen his ceiling, he's good but very rarely great. Baker like Dak needs to win but he could join the Goff tier.

Young guys need more seasoning like Herbert, Burrow and even Tua. Jones and Darnold are hard to guage, they look bad but could a change of scenery and coaching help?

Long winded round about answer but I could see him in a ranking anywhere from 4 to 10 but much below 10 I might have an issue with a list.

Your thoughts?
I pretty much agree but you forgot a pretty good one in Deshaun Watson. I'd be tempted to put him in the Goff category. I do think Goff has a great potential to elevate to the elite level in the next couple of seasons. He seems to add a little each season and am excited to see where he might be by playoff time.

Amen brother.
This whole "elite" discussion is pointless and meaningless, and drives me fucking nuts.
I like Goff a lot, period, for all the reasons you stated, and am ecstatic he'll be here for a long time.

That’s something you don’t see everyday, the offense lining up offside, twice!

Yeah - but if you looked down the line they were both even & never across the ball. A WR is always told to look back to the ref.
I think Mcvay will show clips of those calls to the league.

I think there are only 2 QBs in the league that can be qualifies as Elite, that without them their Team has no chance. Wilson and Holmes.
Any of the others I think a decent replacement would be okay in terms of not lowering the level of play.

Goff has moments where he is super accurate like wow factor but doesn't seem to have the ability to turn it "on" and just maintain this elite feeling. Almost but not quite there yet.

Wondering. Would you go as far as saying Goff is a top 10 QB?

LOL I could care less what talking heads think and where they rank Goff. He's good enough to get this team to the Super Bowl and good enough to win it. Just remember it was very recently these same talking heads ranked Wentz over Goff. Now Carson's viability as a continued franchise QB in Philly is in legitimate question. That said every QB runs into rough spots in their career. People were downgrading Goff last year even though he single-handedly carried this team to a winning record without an o-line, running game and a suspect defense that couldn't hold a lead. IMO his performance last year was perhaps his best year. Forget stats, it's how the QB carries himself when things are bad. He never pointed fingers, he never complained, he did what a good leader does, he shouldered the burden of those losses like a leader and a man. That showed me rare strength of character, and it wasn't lost on his teammates. That is why he is the unquestioned leader of this team.

Now add in his unquestioned talent and you have a legit franchise level player. WTF more can a team or fans want? Goff has earned my respect and admiration for his leadership and personal strength.
