Once the Oline builds some consistency, Stafford and ARob will build some chemistry
It's a combination to me of the adjustment period but also not using him correctly. To safe no jump balls it's what he excels at.
Like that near pick Stafford through to Higs in the Arizona game into double coverage. If your going to throw it up like that why into double coverage and putting that aside why Higs. Love Higs but when was the last time he won a jump ball situation. Done take the shot even double covered if you must but at least throw it to ARob he will give you at least a shot.
They definitely need to continue to work but Stafford is no stranger to the jump ball as he had Calvin and Gallowday etc. So he knows that shit.

His drop TD pass is inexcusable. But just like when we picked up OBJ last year, it took a while to get the chemistry. I will say he's not getting as much separation in his routes as OBJ does or he's not sitting in open spaces in zones. Not sure if it's him or the plays or a combination. Don't want to hit the panic button yet.
Disappointing yes but Not sure “inexcusable” is accurate. I’ve seen Higbee and Kupp drop some in the first 3 games as well. That needs to improve for all.
It makes more sense that he's thinking. When you're thinking it's hard to look good at this level.
The guy chose the Rams for a reason. He has a QB that fits him. He has always been able to produce, when healthy, and he's healthy right now. I think greatness is ahead for him in this offense, he just needs to get himself to that point mentally where he's playing.

OBJ had some drops last year too. It can take time getting used to a QBs arm. Plus ARob looked surprised that the pass was there so quickly. Maybe he’s grown accustomed to QBs that don’t make such tight window throws.

OBJ had very little drops if any. Catch % and targets are 2 very different stats. I thought I explained this before?
Targets count as throwing in the players general area and not always where they can catch it.
to recap....what counts in the target stat? Not just drops, that's only a part.
also includes:
throwing OOB in receiver direction, uncatchable
throwing into dirt in rcvr direction, uncatchable
throwing a pick near receiver, bad throw
overthrowing receiver... Tutu was recently given 1 target in stats where Stafford overthrew him, not Tutu's fault
underthrowing receiver
drops (yes here they go) and we saw ARob have a big one
qb and receiver not on same page, yeah we've seen that
other factors
all of these go into the target stat. It's not just pass catching %. That's why it's so useless. They need to just go back to REC and YDS.
Aside from lack of chemistry with Stafford, it’s also the lack of trust with him and McVay to utilize more advanced route concepts and give him targets. I expect that to change by midseason but as it stands, he’s still WIP.
Find it funny how some folks already assume he’s a bust because he doesn’t understand the playbook and route concepts like Kupp right away; those types of receivers don’t grow on trees lol.

We are 2-1 and haven’t yet got ARob and TuTu going. I love the untapped upside to the offense!

Yea exactly. Not until Woods literally leaked it to the media he wanted more catches did he get any attention. The next game we force fed him 14 targets. Week 1 ARob was running free all game, he was wide open multiple times and never got a look. Maybe playing with Megatron for a decade ingrained something into Stafford's brain. Now he has Kupp and has no problem just locking onto one WR for all the targets. It did win us the SB though, because if he doesn't do that on our last drive we dont win. But it really makes you think. Why does Kupp have 20+ more targets than ARob through 3 weeks. I get it he should have more, but 20+? And there is no way in hell Higbee and Skow should have more targets than ARob no matter the reason.
I think being outraged by it is outrageous. Somebody call somebody.

Last season was kupps only full season. I worry about the workload and his durability if this keeps up.

Man, y'all sure come up with some interesting ways to describe ARs TD drop lol. Stafford put it on him and he should have caught that shit. No excuses needed. AR just needs to keep at it as I'm sure Stafford will come back to him. Agree it's too early to panic and that connection should get better over the next few games.

Targets. The point is why the lack of targets? Skow and Higbee have more targets than ARob, and Kupp has 23 more targets in just three weeks. Does Kupp deserve 12 targets per game to ARobs 4? Is that what we're paying $15M annually for?

He should definitely get more targets prior to being judged fairly. I was simply referring to the explaining away of why he dropped that slant that Stafford put on him right in his hands. All I'm saying is he simply dropped it and it's too early to judge him. McVay has called his number and he has ran routes so I'm more so guessing it's Satfford not simply throwing to him. It would benefit our team if Stafford did spread the love a bit more.
It's week 3, stats by week 17 will look far different for a lot of players. Akers will be pushing 1k yards, Robinson will have 13 touchdowns, Daniel Hardy will be our sack leader... it'll all be good lol. If you read it on the internet it has to be true.
