McVay reminds me so damned much of Mike Martz

I dunno about that... exaggeration, if you ask me.

Martz winning percentage: .624
McVay winning percentage: .759

And Martz never gave one indication that he needed to change. In fact, he went right on killing quarterbacks with 8 step drops and long-developing routes long after he left the Rams.

McVay seems more open to change... but he needs to show me that he can, actually, change (when needed).

Martz never budged one ounce... his ego was the size of Alaska. "Max Q"... thought it was goofy then... still do.

There'll be no gimmicky catch phrases with McVay... so far, all he's doing is winning... with more consistency than The Mad Scientist.

All that being said... McVay needs to commit to the run. He needs to remember how important it is to opening up the rest of his playbook. It's hard... itr takes time... and it's not instant gratification, like the pass is. But it's necessary.

If I were him, I'd assign one gopher to come over the headphones every few plays and yell at me "DON'T FORGET THE RUN!!!"
:ROFLMAO:

Run the ball to the left! The right side of the line is weaker and was getting manhandled by the Bears.

I always wonder why the Rams don't run left more; especially when you consider Whitworth and Saffold were the highest rated tandem in the league last year. Haven't the late backbreaking runs usually been to the left?

It should be noted though, that last year Havs was the 2nd highest rated run blocking tackle in the league and Blythe is having a stellar year.

All that being said, where were all of the jet sweep motions? I have noticed that when the offense is bogging down, there just isn't enough motion and shifts. Our plays really aren't that devious, just disguised.

Jet sweep motion to the right with a cutback run to the left? Where was THAT play?

The biggest thing is McVay himself.

How he evolves has been, and will continue to be, the crux of the matter.

The biggest thing is McVays inability to lead this team to 16-0 in the regular season.

He was given a certified bust of a qb for his first year who on his own developed into an MVP candidate. He had no excuse this year for not going undefeated with this type of talent and yet here we are at 11-2. Wtf

I've got no complaints about McVay. I'd rather have him and Snead rather than the esteemed tandems of Linehan/Zygmunt, Spagnuolo/Devaney, Martz/whoever-the-fuck-screwed-every-pick-except-Jackson/Atogwe/Tinoisamoa.

Our biggest issue in the Mcvay Era is we expect perfection.

14-2 or even 13-3 in 2018 after essentially a 12-4 2017 season is at the top of the NFL.

We can complain about many things but in the end the proof is in the pudding. We have the best record in the NFL.

Postseason, we may have a reason to complain.

My Answer: Run Defense. Period. Nothing else is close.

I think our run game is fine. He gets away from it on occasion...but it’s not a problem. Some of those stats are a bit misleading...gotta include Malcolm Brown in those stats if we’re gonna do that.

I’ll give a slight nod to following: Wish we used our TEs a bit more. Especially with Cooper Kupp out.

p.s. Miss you Cooper Kupp

It's to early to call it an era. McVay is in year 2. We have been spoiled these last 2 years and we certainly deserve it after 13 long years of losing. Our expectations have increased dramatically and many of us demand perfection. Kinda surprising really.

I'm enjoying this season. We're 11-2 and we're a great football team. What I want to see now is how well we do in the playoffs. That's when it matters. McVay is 0-1 so far.

I never expected perfection if what you mean is going 19-0 and having every game be a blowout. But the last two games have made me nervous. We should be getting better instead of worse. The offense has looked pathetic over the last two games. That should be a concern considering the Rams offense was supposedly an unstoppable juggernaut.

Goff looks confused and jittery and the O-line looks worn out. With three regular season games to go before the playoffs there's still time to right the ship. But we can't expect this team to go into the playoffs with any momentum if this continues.

I wonder if in the back of McVay's brilliant mind he's trying to keep Gurley fresh for the playoffs? But we need to stop the run, I still say this could derail us in the big game.

Hope McVay took Goff's arm strength into consideration seeing the number of throws he made last Sunday.

Stopping the run has been an issue. Besides that I guess you could say time management, but I don't mind TO's taken in the 1st half. Usually it just looks like they run out of time trying to make a late audible or adjustment. McVay seems to get a little jittery in a close game and wants that splash play throwing on 1st down. It's hard to argue with the results over the last year and a half, but when it doesn't work it takes Gurley out of the game. This leads me to one tiny complaint, get Todd Gurley the ball down the middle of the field like vs Dallas. He's good on the sidelines, but I'd love to give him the whole field to work with in the passing game 1-3 times a game.

He needs to hold the defense accountable. Look at what haw been spent on the defense. Not just in salary which is huge but also in draft picks. He should fire Phillips

There was a time when vent threads outnumbered celebration threads 3-1 on this forum. The NFL Draft forum used to be the place to be on this site by week 9 of each year. We used to get pumped up to play spoiler late in the season.

Now we have two division titles in 2 years. We have a first round bye with one more win. We have the best player in the game under contract for his prime. We have the coach who is the gold standard for all organizational searches going forward. We have a 2 billion dollar stadium under construction.

We are one of - if not THE - best team in the league.

We have one of - if not THE - most talented rosters.

This is what we have been waiting for - hoping for - praying for. It’s here guys and gals - the time for second guessing, complaining, moaning and groaning is over. We are now among the spoiled.

Just enjoy it. That’s all.

Our offensive line looked old and weak against the Bears.

If it has to do with the season wearing them down we are in deep trouble.
