I think McVay and Snead realize a lot of their reputation is riding on this move. For McVay, he picked his first QB.

Therefore... I predict they will want to succeed with this move and will do whatever it takes to stack the deck in favor of that!

SOOOOO!! excited for what this team can do and I love our McSnead
attitude that says you are either All In or your on your way out.
If for whatever reason they don't succeed, it will be like watching a hellacious fight.

Yeah Goff is a wizard at fakes. Unlikely Stafford is at that level.

In McVay's offense it is highly emphasized,
partly because they are running a 3 man mesh and not the traditional 2 man
"fake the dive" type of action.

fisher used to try to run something similar with Gurley and Goff, It
used to piss me off to no end, because it was so sloppy.

When McVay got here you started to see a huge difference.
Stafford will pick this up very quickly, because coach Vay don't play
when it comes to ball fakes.

since were spit balling. Do we trade Kupp and go after someone like Golladay (for $14m)? Or someone like Agholor (for something like $7m). Or pick up up someone like Perriman for $3m?

Would love to pick up Golladay. I have read somewhere that he may be a franchise player,
but I am not sure how accurate the source is.

I am also pretty anxious to see what may be available in the draft.
Looking forward to @jrry32 firing up his draft machine
to give us a idea of what may be out there.

Golladay is intriguing, with that risk coming off a mostly banged up season...

The thought of a player like him, here, with Stafford has a lot of feel good about it. Damn he’s gonna be expensive though.

In fact I often think guys like Stafford often do not get good running games because their coaches are so enamored with their QB's ability they are just too tempted to keep throwing the ball and they tend to ignore that aspect of the offense.

Look at how Marino never had a ground attack. The offense was always on him. Elway very similar until the end of his career with Davis taking the load.

So will be interesting if McVay can avoid putting too much on Stafford regardless of his ability.

I have written about this very thing (i.e., Marino's and Elways' [before Terrell Davis] operating without potent rushing games) extensively in past forums. Coaches would get so enamored with their QB's lethal arms they would de-emphasize the running game in favor of highlighting their QB's Golden Arm. Of course, when the elite field general and his Golden Arm reached the playoffs, they had to contend against the league's best teams, which usually included the league's best defenses. Those best defenses would be concentrated on slowing down those Golden Arms and their attendant weak rushing games. As a result, Dan the Man never won it all even though he is arguably the best pure QB the NFL has ever had. John Elway could not win the Super Bowl until he partnered with Terrell Davis in the backfield.

What is interesting is that Matthew Stafford is coming to the Horns to join a young RB who is very much like primetime Terrell Davis. Just like 5-foot, 11-inch, 210-pound Terrell had a very consistent penchant for getting 4-5 yards after the first contact from defenders, so we have witnessed 5-foot, 10-inch, 217=pound Cam Akers often spinning|lunging forward for an extra 3-5 yards post defensive contact. Will the Leprechaun with his encyclopedic memory make the relevant connections and see the opportunities he has acquired with this dynamic backfield duo?

Members pining for a Roger Saffold-esque guard presence, while understandable, should remember that while Roger was a mobile run-blocking monster, he was closer to average as a pass blocker (i.e., solid but not elite). Still such a run blocker would be a great boon to Cam Akers, who I believe has the remote potential to produce a 2000-yard campaign just as Terrell did.

Not sure what that has to do with Stafford improving his ball action fakes.
The fakes will be there whether they are throwing or running the ball.

I don't think that will happen.

Not as long as Kyle Shanahan is in the Bay Area trying to be the next incarnation of Joe Gibbs...

Context? When? I mean, he went pass heavy a few times, but I don't recall the health of the RBs that day or if for whatever reason the D that day was just keying on the runs or executing better at stopping our runs.

I guess I'm asking was he forgetting the run game or was it just not there?

I suppose it's partly both, but I also don't see Goff as being all that limited. McVay just comes from that Gruden school which has a remarkably exacting standard for QBs
