So here's a twist.

They hybrid Staley 3-4/Morris Cover 2 has the potential to be REALLY special come playoff time.

We've seen in multiple weeks against the Chiefs and Cards that the Cover 2 can be devastating to big play offenses.

So, you couple our development of our run game, our OL being one of if not our biggest strength (NO ONE called that... no one) and thus the ability to control the TOP with our growing ability to shut down the big play and that's a recipe for taking teams out in the playoffs when coaches are more likely to abandon the run.

I think we're being set up VERY well for our playoff run.

Last years. "#1 D" got bulldozed in the playoffs by GB.

Given the loss of FA's and coaches on the D side a dip in performance is to be expected.

Football is a funny game. A team outmuscles and embarrasses you one week and the rematch a few weeks later can go completely different.

Almost glad the "wake up call" AZ delivered last Sunday happened as all the premature and silly "The Rams are playing like a Super Bowl champion" talk has vanished from here and everywhere else.

I was a Rams fan when Merlin Olsen was on the Rams. We had the #1 defense many times including I believe one season where we gave up only 10 points per game. We never made the super bowl during that time frame.

Today's NFL really hinges on your offense with a defense that can make a few stops and force a few turnovers.

That was the way the Rams won Super Bowl 34. A good defense plus the greatest show on turf.

That's what the Staley defense did so often last season until the Packer game.
