the Texans called and asked the Rams to throw in one more 1st rounder along with what was offered to the Lions to get DeShaun Watson?

I know it's very unlikely to back out of a deal for Stafford but I just was wondering out loud since him and the Texans are at a stand still.

One problem is - I don't believe we have a first rounder to give

My understanding is that our trades for 1st round picks can't go beyond 2023

Ok, if that is indeed the case, let's just say if they were willing to come back to negotiating table, do u think the Rams should reconsider?

No. Reneging on a deal is a bad look and could hurt Snead in any future negotiations.

Even for a younger QB? Not sure it would necessarily hurt that as I can't see a GM not understanding getting a top 5 talent like Watson instead. Reneging definitely not a good look but if you can counter with, but it was for DeShaun Watson, then I think that helps. Not saying it would happen but appreciate it view point.

Snead isn't going to renege on a deal with Brad Holmes. Do I think the Watson deal would be superior? Yes. But we made a deal. We need to abide by it.

Also... Watson isn't gonna be traded before 3/17 so it's moot.

IF, IF, IF Watson is traded, it'll be right before the draft.

but the Houston FA is such a complete and total clusterfuck that they'll likely not only not trade Watson, but won't draft a QB until late and have to start someone like Blake Bortles or some other QB castaway while Watson sits out.

I dunno. I struggle with belligerent incompetence and there's so much coming from Houston that it gives me a headache...

Totally agree there. Just was putting it out there for shits and giggles. I'm already sure Stafford is our QB. It's the reason the Rams pivoted towards Stafford once they got turned away from Watson. The Texans are a hot mess so that scenario is probably right on.

While I agree with the morality of the statement, I wouldn't necessarily be upset by it either. In the not for long league, loyalty in the NFL is a myth.

From what I remember houston wanted 2 1st rds, Goff, a second rd and Donald and Ramsey. They wanted more than you're even offering in your scenario.
Allegedly, yes lol......yeah in that scenario, I would say no thanks, but maybe they gave that outrageous request so we'd hang up and not bother them. The Texans are definitely holding their ground for whatever reason.

They deff trolled us. But I think that was their way of saying they're not interested.

No offense to the OP. But this is a non starter. And beyond the scope of possibilities. I'm good with stafford
