First off, congratulations to the Seahawks on a 12-4 regular season. That record is nothing to scoff at, and is something to be proud of. NFC West divisions champions also has a sweet taste to it.

Now, after today's come from behind victory against the 49ers, I was hoping to be even more jacked. Except, I'm not.

Because we have to play the Los Angeles Rams AGAIN. This team has been a proverbial thorn in our side for as long as Pete's been here it feels like. They're like a turd that won't flush.

Going back in time now to 2004, where we played them in the wild card round. Remember this one? Hasselbeck threw a gut wrenching incompletion to Engram in the endzone at the end of the game, completing a 3 game sweep of us that season.

Fast forward to now, where we had a hard fought game against them last week to finally take them out and win the division. And when the dust settles from our party, who's standing in front of us, but the same pesky Rams! They just won't leave us alone!

I have a bad feeling about this one. I felt ultra confident about last week's game, but now it feels like we've exhausted all our good plays, showed our hand, and we're left facing them with nothing but our wits and integrity. It's like bringing a knife to a gun fight against these guys.

The video below is a perfect representstion of how I'm feeling about this matchup, with Kylo Ren representing the Seahawks (and how I looked after beating them last week/how I looked seeing we're playing them again) and Luke Skywalker representing the Rams.

Is anyone else dreading this upcoming game? Or does Jerhawk need to buckle up and prepare for victory? What's your level of confidence heading into Saturday's playoff battle?

*

* I'd rather face any other playoff team, to be honest. However, we did handle them pretty well last time, though the final score doesn't show it.

* I think PC/KNJ finally have the Ram's offense figured out, and PC will let Schotty plan a shorter pass game due to the Ram's notorious Dline. They got this.

* We just saw in their win v. the Cardinals that their offense now has a different dynamic with Wolford as their QB. He is definitely not Goff.

*
We could definitely lose to the Rams, but then again we could lose to any team. And if we do beat the Rams, we could definitely lose to the second round matchup, etc.

I suggest looking at the playoffs from the other direction. It isn't likely, but if we manage to win three games in a row we get a trip to the Super Bowl. Can we beat the Rams? Clearly yes as of just two weeks ago. And if we do beat them, then the reward is just needing to win two games in a row to get to the Super Bowl.

*
I'm not entirely sure where you read that. All the publications I've read have said the Rams have no idea if Goff will be back or not.

https://theramswire.usatoday.com/2021/0 ... -seahawks/

https://www.nfl.com/news/rams-hc-sean-m ... s-seahawks

Honestly, what I saw from Wolford was a little concerning. The Cardinals are without a doubt ending their season in a downward slope, but some of the plays Wolfie made convinced me that if he plays like that again then it's definitely going to be an extremely tight game.

* NO doubt the best wild card team in the NFC remember they beat Tampa Bay convincingly. Key to victory run the ball well, Stop the run , pressure Goff, protect Wilson and of course win the turnover battle. Do three of those five with one of them being win the turnover battle and the Seahawks win.

*
I think this game will be a stroll brawl. It’s going to be ugly. Lots of defense up to the fourth quarter and a team will have one game convincing drive. Not going to be a fun game to watch for either team. Lots of dumb calls.

It will be like a mayweather fight. Nothing flashy and really boring. Both teams trying to feel each other out.

The game day forum is going to EXPLODE!!!!! Lots of fire Pete, KNJ is a joke. Russ is terrible. Shorty can’t call a game to save his life. Pete is getting out coaches again. All this and some.

*
Rams have the #1 defense in the NFL by yards per game, #3 defense by points per game. Either way, they're one of the best defenses in the league and our offense hasn't exactly been firing on all cylinders lately.

Yes, I'm pretty concerned. We needed 3 4th quarter TDs to beat a very depleated 49ers team. It's going to be much more difficult to pull that off against one of the best defenses in the NFL.

*
was kinda dreading it before, and posted that in another thread.

If Adams is playing, I'm not 'worried'. If he's out - I would be a bit. Sounds like he's gonna play.

It's DIVISIONAL. The Cards, Rams and 9ers ALWAYS play lights out ball against us. It's what they do. It's like their superbowl EVERY game. But, with a backup QB, and Adams first playoff game? Not as worried. Donald can post all the bulletin board material he wants - he's only one guy.

I'd be more worried about a hot-dog-neck Ariens Cardinals team from a couple years ago than I am against the Rams. I'll take smash-mouth vs. trick misdirected punt plays any day of the week.

Honestly my end take: Adams in - we win. Adams out - we got some problems.

* If Goff plays, Seahawks win.

* So sick of the Rams. Of course Brady gets lucky and matches with the NFCE winner.

*
I guess we’ll have to game plan better offensively if we want to win.

Please no less than 5 catches for Metcalf.

* Sick of the Rams but how goes the saying?"Steel sharpens steel"Hope so.

*

TheLegendOfBoom wrote:please no less than 5 catches for Metcalf.

Easier said than done if Ramsey is blanketing him. Shut down DHop today.

*
If I am a Ram I want redemption and that would taste sweet knocking us out.

Also they hardly have to travel the first week as well, two incentives versus going least coast.

* The one thing that makes me uneasy regarding the Rams O vs the Hawks D is can McVey cook up something to counter what our D did last week, assuming we did something different schematically than in previous years.

* If Wolford get the start with another week of !st team snaps under his belt he could really give the Hawks D all they can handle . He makes me a little nervous to tell the truth .

*
And that’s what’s worrisome.

Wilson completely avoided Metcalf in the first game.

Wilson knows Ramsey is elite.

If Seattle doesn’t run the ball well and Lockett is quiet, it’s gonna be a bad game for Wilson.

* he top 2 defenses going at. This will be a defensive ball game, and the winner of this game will be in the NFC Championship game.

Both fan bases should be confident. And it's a division game so anything can happen.

IMO Seattle kind of got fucked though. To be that high a seed then face a division rival who matches up well with you is a shitty deal. If I were a Seacocks fan I'd be pissed. I mean oh hey the Saints get the Bears and the Bucs get the Washington jackasses but Seattle gets the fucking Rams?

Now maybe I'm overestimating my team. But just in terms of records the Rams in spite of all our problems have been a much more dangerous and consistent team than either Washington or Chicago. IMO it's a harder draw for Seattle just in terms of that not to mention getting into how teams match up.

But anyway. I'm pretty fuckin happy with this matchup because I want to eat some fuckin bird. And I realize we might well lose to them however I like our chances. Rams are pissed and hungry so if Seattle gets the focused Rams offense they're up shit creek.

So they don’t try harder in divisional games and Adams isn’t ‘only one guy’?What a prick.

Seattle was outgained by 40 yards against the 9ers and had to score 20 in the 4th to beat them.

one of the scores on a fumble at the 9er 17 yard line.

Green midget was under 200 yards passing.

Great matchup for Rams.

Hell no. But if we had won the division I'd probably be bitching about facing a rival Seahawks team in the wildcard round. I think it's shitty just the way some teams almost have a fucking bye.

But I am going to enjoy drinking the tears of Seahawks fans if we win. That's for damn sure.

Yea the playoff format is long overdue some changes.
Should be strictly off team records.

Just the way AD says "That's what we wanted, that's exactly what we wanted", I have shivers.

Put the man on the bulletin board. You'll only succeed in scaring the Seattle OL and Russell Wilson all week. That's the last face they want to see every day in the facility.

I would bet AD has been starring in their nightmares for years.

From another board, a message for Hawks fans:

“I hope, on your way to getting your overpriced latte at the hipster coffee shop next to the Kurt Cobain mural, you get trampled by an Antifa rally and are unable to find police support due to recent defunding. Then, as you stumble home, I hope the cold rain that permeates this time of the year causes your henna tattoo reading '12th man' to get ruined, and then you get mauled by a sea lion on the edge of Puget Sound.”

I've been up there once at The Gorge for Black Sabbath VIP in 2013 and obviously The James Marshall Hendrix and birth of Grunge and I think Heart too. Other than that fuck Seattle and the Seafucks and their #12 who will be in virtual attendance. :horns:

I think they would beat the 9ers today and Hags this weekend...especially with a Hag performance like the above.

That Hag offense is a one man band that won’t get past the Rams D on Saturday.
