Going off memory here admittedly, but the Rams' defense did a great job of taking things away and letting that pressure wear him down. Truth is any QB can have a bad game vs a top defense, and if the Rams' defense is a top unit then that type of performance is going to be par for the course for opposing QBs for the most part.

I'm not convinced that Carr is damaged goods. He's in a new offense with a new voice in his ear facing a top defense. Or so I think right now. Let's wait and see how he does over the next few games, he's got the Broncos who are solid up next but then the Dolphins and Browns and I suspect he's going to rebound with that offense growing game to game.

Well, and Gruden is notoriously hard on his QBs and his play calling is like a foreign language. The nomenclature is just absurdly long.

As for Carr, he wasn't remotely treated like we treat Russell Wilson and he definitely seemed to be playing tentative.

It sure didn't help that after Talib took Cook away, there was nowhere to go with the ball.

Actually, what Gurley ended up doing while trying to hurdle Gilcrist is a flying knee. In the octagon, it looks like this:

understand that I don't believe for a second that Gurley was trying to knee the guy in the face. It's just that by virtue of how the defender positioned himself to make the play, it's how it ended up.

As for flying knees, if they land, it's almost uniformly a KO. Much like a shin to the head/neck, it's not unlike in speed or power being hit with a baseball bat. It's pretty unpleasant.

Ding, Ding, Ding... it was the fact that they didn't have a plan B that was the difference. In all honesty I didn't think the Raiders stank up the place - sure Carr really didn't want to get hit so was just throwing the ball ANYWHERE, but we nullified the run game, nullified their passing game - there's not much they could do really - the Rams are just a talented team at the moment.

I think Gruden is getting a lot of flack because again the $$$ paid, also, McVay's performance last year doesn't help. I think a lot of fans expect that sort of improvement when they get a new coach. McVay is an anomaly not the norm.

Gruden's only mistake is to not covet Mack... but it sounds like Mack wanted out anyway

I don't think they had an horrible game, that was a contested challenge for most of it.
They came in with a good strategy and then failed to find new ideas after answers were brought to their game plan. They also have less talent on the roster right now, I think everyone except blind Oakland fans were already aware of that.
I don't think they will have an horrible season. If they were a really bad team they would have been out of the game after the first 10 minutes, this Rams team knows how blow out bad teams, they showed it last year.
I'd see Oakland around 7-8 wins, not great, no playoffs, but not nightmarish.
