First and foremost, it's the offensive line that allow Goff all the time in the world to find his targets.
Second is the all out defense. They are becoming more than anticipated.
Third, we are no longer depending on field goals to end our drives.
Fourth. MacVay

That the cohesiveness of this Defense has just begun. If this unit stays healthy skies the limit, you know what they say..."Defense wins Championships" and the offence ain't half bad.;)

Jared's play from week one to week two came with profound improvement. Vs the Raiduhs he was rusty and missed all manner of throws, it was pretty ugly tbh. This week he dropped some dimes early that were crucial down/distance throws that changed the complexion of the game, like the 3rd and 11 in the first quarter when they had the ball with no score at that point. He extended drives with his arm, and proved you can't just shut down the offense by stopping TG. Cards' defense could not get off the field largely due to him.

But he still isn't his normal self in terms of accuracy. He is routinely missing a bit on the short to intermediate throws where he's on the back shoulder when he wants to be leading them, stuff like that. And he took an unnecessary sack when he had scrambled out of the pocket, but I am sure McVay is all over him today in film session about that, to just throw it away and not take unnecessary contact. Dude has a lot of areas to improve, but he's still lookin damn good, and I say goddamn it feels good to sit back and watch this team do its thing now.

Oh and in summary what I learned was that not playing your starters in preseason definitely makes them rusty. But that in the case of this team they're good enough to get away with it.

That our secondary is truly elite.

That our D-line is not getting to the QB quite like I suspected.

That Goff is sneaky while still missing a few easy throws like most QBs do including Aaron Rodgers and Tammy Brady.

That our LBs are not the big liability everyone feared.

That it is actually possible for me to relax with a Rams game on TV.

After the re-watch on the condensed game thanks to @OldSchool , the receivers hands were Fred Biletnikoffesk (for you old timers). The tackling was tremendous, kudos to the line backing crew especially. Goff is not afraid to stand in there and take the hit when necessary, tough SOB. In the fourth quarter those pitch sweeps to Brown were a thing of beauty, I’m hoping we see a lot more of them with Gurley. Speaking of Brown, it’s nice to have him back there when Gurley needs a breather. That Natson kid is electric. Hekker steeped up in a big way, what else would we expect, he’s the GOAT.

Gurley with just 46 yds rushing is concerning.

La Coliseum playing surface is atrocious. Nothing more than hard pack dirt. They even spray painted a bunch of it green before the game.

Rams should be concerned about injuries

About Gurley.... I hope he hydrated all week and eats a bunch of bananas. I noticed him looking like he was tightening up way before he went out of the game. And yeah, that turf is aweful. But I think a combination of cramping and AZ loading up had more to do with his production than anything else.

If Gurley has been drinking that Gatorade crap, he needs to stop it, or cut it with 50% water.

Gatorade spurns digestion, which takes water away from the muscles, thus causing cramps.

This one was upsetting to me. Really stupid taking the sack. Why would he do such a thing? It's not like this was Jared's first football game. I was thinking, throw it away, throw it away; but no. Sack, caplunk, yards lost.

The Rams are very good but still have quite a few areas they could improve. And if they improve enough they will be unstoppable (barring significant injuries) and could possibly go undefeated. Maybe without GZ they can improve their production in the RZ (they really need to).

Jared's play was definitely much better this week, but I don't think that had anything to do with not playing a series in pre-season, the pace on the ball in week 1 seemed super-fast, I'm putting that down to nerves. The way he threads balls into the smallest breadbaskets this year is totally insane!

He shouldn't have taken that hit - should have just thrown the ball away into the sidelines, it's the type of play that can injure a QB - an unnecessary hit from the side - ugh...

That pick was pointless too, then again, if it would have flowed over Peterson's head that would have been a beauty :p

I think risky things were done in that game for a reason and they won't be done in other matches - Wade and McVay knew that we could keep their O WITHIN their half.

I'll have to agree that an improvement on RZ production would be good - would you guys put both Gurley III and Brown in some two HB sets in the Redzone?

I thought the same too, maybe the down-side of a short week after a heavy loaded 1st week for him too? What we did prove though was that if you contain TGIII, we're just going to put the ball in the air, opposing D's are going to have to give somewhere AND that even with TGIII off the field, Brown stood in and maintained the level of HB play - both HB's were phenomenal on picking up the blitz.

What I also loved that McVay's play designs were beautifully confusing - your run play was a dummy and Goff air's it out, and vice versa, or you're getting the opposing D's to watch the east-west routes when all of a sudden you've got gas going deep - opposing D Coordinators better be ready...
