The original post never said the hit had to be straight on or that it had to be a DB. Scott's hit on Deebo was an example. The point is that anyone can lay a hard hit.
I was responding to the idea of a DB laying him out.

Not gonna happen.

That’s my take, and I’m entitled to it.

The Bills offense was up and down last year. When they scored higher they really scored higher. But they also struggled to score at times. For a super team they lost 6 games last year. And now they have the attention of the media. They are this year's media darlings.

Being the media darling hasn't worked well for a lot of teams. I remember when the 49ers were the media darlings then Garoppolo goes down and they finish last in the division. The Cardinals fizzled out down the stretch. The Browns finally made the playoffs when the media switched to the Cardinals as their darling team.
Didn't win a single one-score game last year.

Force = mass x acceleration.

If Josh Allen runs full speed and is hit head on by a smaller DB, I suppose he brings the greater force. The Bills coaching staff does not want that, though, if they're smart.

If Josh Allen is rolling or making a cut (i.e. not at full speed) and he gets hit by a DB running in a straight line, he'll get laid out. Again, I don't think the Bills want that.
Gaines anyone? Or can't he catch that...?

I think I like this roster better on both sides of the ball, vs the team that started 2021.

I would say my biggest concern is the offensive line followed by depth at RB.

I am okay with our 3 top RB’s, if healthy. They fit this system well.

The offensive line I just don’t know because we haven’t seen them play together.

Woo! We’ll be good if we can stay healthy.

o-line durability and effectiveness is a big question mark right now. hopefully big whit keeps in relatively decent game shape if needed to fill in.

Tackling 101, Shoulder to mid thigh, at the correct angle and it takes both legs out of the runner, and upends them, laid out!

Upends them? A 190 DB is going to upend a 250 tank?
No.

The more I delve into the Buffalo Bills the less they scare me. Sure they have Josh Allen. He's a tough matchup for any defense. Stephon Diggs is an All Pro caliber receiver. Statistically they had a very good defense and now they add Von Miller.

But for this so called super team you look at who they played, their success is underwhelming. A weak division. They get 6 games they should easily win. They went 5-1 in that division last year. Their impressive wins were against teams like Jets and Dolphins twice each, Texans, Jaguars, Panthers, Falcons, Lions, Commodes and Bears. All teams who couldn't average more than 20 points per game. They went 2-4 against playoff teams.

What I see is the media darling who pundits love to pick and over hype. Look at some past media darlings. The 49ers who lost Garoppolo for the season and finished last. The Browns who had a losing record and didn't make the playoffs until the media hype moved on from them. The Cardinals for two straight years. First year they didn't make the playoffs. Second year they did and fizzled out late. Losing 5 out of their last 6 including the playoff loss.

I get that the Bills are a legit contender. But a super team everyone claims is the best? I think I'll wait and see how their season unfolds before I agree with the pundits. I'll believe it when I see it. With that schedule this great team shoulda done a lot better than 12-7 including playoffs.

Might come down to Von Miller v. Joe Noteboom.
During his brief time on the Rams, Miller typically lined up on the left side, opposite the opposing right tackle. I must confess, I don't have a recollection as to whether that was his preferred side in Denver, or if he lined up there because they didn't want to move Leonard Floyd.

My point is... Hav may have to deal with him as well.

Von definitely has rushed mostly against right tackles in his career. When he first got to the Rams they were using him on the other side quite a bit but it seemed to get less and less as the season progressed. I don't know if that's his preference or not.

Honestly I think I'd rather have Von matchup with Noteboom. Boom's strong spot in his game is pass protection, he's very balanced, smooth, and anchors well. Big Have on the other hand has always struggled most with speed rushers which Von has but Von also has a lot of power.

Bills fan here. Speaking on behalf of all Bills fans - we are confident in almost every aspect of our team except for Elam (rookie CB). Dane Jackson and Taron Johnson are studs. Missing Tre White is huge. Stafford will pick on the rookie all night long.

Bills fans are best fans in the NFL. I’ve been treated to many a beer snd brat by them the couple of Buffalo games I went to. With that said The Bills RB are average unless the rookie is a stud. Also the DBs were very suspect in the playoffs. Love Gabe Davis, Josh Allen and Dawson Knox on your roster.
