Of course, like Baker last year, if he were to ball out and gain a decent contract with another team for next season, it could factor in to the comp pick formula.
Didnt work out so well with Baker since he only signed a 1 year deal, but still the potential is there

Or the Rams could re-sign him and deal Stafford for draft capital and get rid of that HUGE contract. Who knows?

Still an $87 million dead cap hit if Stafford goes elsewhere this offseason. Still no real good option there that is better than him just staying. Unless someone gave us a ridiculously huge haul of draft picks for him to make up for the lack of cap room for moving him which won't happen.

He's a Ram now, so I'm going to support him in whatever role he gets - bench, scout team, whatever.

. . . unless things get nutty.
Jon Gruden: “It’s unbelievable—he thinks his Lord Jesus Christ helps him play better, gives him more confidence, and allows him to cut things loose. He has really done an unbelievable job at North Dakota State. He ran his own Bible study. He’s doing that here in Philadelphia. He doesn’t push it down anyone’s throat. But good for him. He is a great person that has made a great impact on and off the field. If you’re into good stories, follow this man around.”

Opinion: What did you think would happen, Carson Wentz? You're too special to get the vaccine?

Or we can just watch him play a game before me demand the front office trade Stafford and eat a ton of dead money.

Welcome, Carson!

Well I guess the games will be interesting again. Thank God for the bye.

I initially wanted Wentz over Goff. That was a mistake as Goff was far more durable and better in the locker room. Still, I’m intrigued by Wentz’s possibilities under McVay’s tutelage. I now, at least, have a modicum of hope, and I’m excited about that.

2024 cap number is $49,500 with him on the team.
Sure, it would increase to $55,500 (dead money) if traded, but they would be done with that contract for future years and have some draft picks to boot.

I don't care if in his own time he's a nut job. All I care about is how he plays on the field. Bennett is a boozer and no one cared until it got him temporarily banned from the team. I've known lots of people who were religious fanatics but all I cared about was how they did their job. As long as they performed at work that's all the matter. No different than Wentz. All this religious stuff is ancient news. It came out before the draft.

So are people saying god directed him to throw INTs? Don't forget Kurt Warner is a big-time Christian and it didn't stop him from being a good QB. All I know is he is far and away a better QB than the last two QB2s this team has had this year. If he's a locker room distraction it's only for a few months. But who knows, maybe God has told him to cut the BS and just play football.

I believe in letting people show me who they are. I knew of Bennett's issues but was willing to give him the benefit of doubt until he fell off his wagon. I will do the same courtesy to Wentz.

Dead money could be as high as $62 mill if Rams have to pay his option bonus, its due at the beginning of the new league year
For Wentz to play well enough to earn a contract for '24 and beyond, it would require Stafford to miss significant time (again) or play poorly enough to warrant a QB change. In either case, it surely makes the idea of a team wanting him (and that salary) a bit of a pipe dream. At least from a decent comp perspective.

If Wentz can just get us through a couple games here and there over the rest of the sched he'll have a chance to get signed this offseason as a backup. Teams know the guy has talent. Just has to demonstrate that humble pie he got served has been fully digested.

Carson has lacked mental discipline more than anything.
This is my impression of Wentz as well. He always seemed to have a maverick mentality out there, which didn't work out as often as he thought it would, and resulted in more injuries too. Hopefully if that's the case he's matured a little and is ready to benefit from Rams coaching and culture.
