Raise your hand if, at 38-10, you expected the Lions to come back and have a chance to tie on their last possession.

Insane comeback

I know a lot of people will disagree with me but they don't need a QB. So I would trade down as often as possble next year and get as many players as they can since this is going to be an extremely deep draft pool.

If they still suck next year and Goff isn't playing better, then trade down and get a QB in the following year's draft.

The Lions are a really bad team. I can't argue with that. If that coaching staff wins 5 games, they've done a hell of a job.
Liked what I saw from the coaches today. The WR and RB limitations will be a serious problem and getting the most out of the previous regime's defensive picks like Okudah about as big but they have a pretty darn good staff so we'll see how it goes.

You're right, but if you're trying to change the culture, I think you have to fight for every inch. Plus, this QB class is looking underwhelming. So this may not be the year you want to be selecting a QB at the top of the draft. (Obviously, there's still a lot of college football ahead of us.)
True you never want to "try" to tank or "appear" to tank but...they need to tank. There's just nothing special on that roster besides Hock.

They'll have to fight off Atlanta if they want that #1.

I think you have to let the year play out before you make that call. Goff looked like his normal self in Week 1. And imo, that's a guy good enough to win you games (although, you'd like to see more consistency). So if he plays solid or better football over the season, I'd say pass on a QB this year and continue building the team, unless the perfect guy falls in your lap. If Goff falls apart over the course of the year, it becomes an easy decision.

Lol. I guess he wasn't very pleasant with Jeff Okudahs performance.

You're right. I disagree with you. Having said that, i don't think they need to rush it. They could opt to bring in weapons first, or build the defense. There's no quick fix in Detroit.

I think if Decker comes back and is as good at RT as he is at LT, that OL might prove to be an impressive unit. Sewell held up much better than I expected against Bosa. And Ragnow is an All Pro. But yes, the offensive skill players are very underwhelming, outside of Hockenson. Swift and Williams are a solid duo, but neither is great. The WR unit is terrible.

I think their HBs are solid. Swift just needs to stop dropping passes. But the WR group is bad. Tyrell Williams is hurt again, and the rest of the guys are either first-year players or JAGs, with the exception of maybe Quintez Cephus.

Yeah Swift can be good, would have liked to see him for a full year last year but he and Williams can be a decent duo. Cephus was somebody I found intriguing last year in the draft process we'll see what he can do.

With that deep draft - 5th round picks will be like 3rd round picks.

Fix both sides of the ball as best you can. I like their FO now so they might be able to greatly improve that team next year if they do it right.

The defense is also terrible. They have a long ways to go at nearly every turn. If anything, i tip my hat to their coaching staff for keeping their players' heads in the game until the final whistle today. It certainly wasn't the talent on the field.

Goff has this year at the least to prove he's the guy. To do that he's gonna need to keep turnovers down and improve on some of the basics. IMO he has to get better at anticipating pressure and getting through his reads. When those things happen his talent takes over.

I just don't believe in him any more. No hate here or hard feelings for the guy but I think he's just another NFL player whose play dipped after being paid. And when you're a QB the pay is so significant that you gotta produce.

Him leading them back vs the 9ers was really good for his standing in that locker room though, that's for damn sure. I just wish they would have finished that last drive and forced some OT.

Swift and their OL were getting lanes today. I loved seeing that. I think the Niners had something to do with that as well. They did not look dominant today in the trenches.

Goff had a very good game when you consider the constant drops which were pinpoint accurate.

his stat line would have been insane if his WRs caught the ball.
