After the game, Rashid Shaheed basically admitted they were running toward Derion Kendrick (#21) on the punt return TD. He said, “We’ve been focused on that left return, field return all week. We knew they had kind of a weak point with their special teams.”

The left gunner on that return was Kendrick, and we ran straight at that side. This is likely why we cut him. If you go back to the TD return the Titans had against us, Kendrick failed to set the edge and they scored.

Watch the video, I just do not understand some of the player evaluations. I guess overall, it is very good, however, at times, I really wonder what they see in certain players.

But, one of the reasons Kendrick was released was because of the lack of effort on special teams. Anyways, IMO, the punt was bad, but still, Kendrick like the rest of the unit failed.

I mean, they can say that all they want.....truth is, Evans hit one of the worst punts I've ever seen. We punted from the 15, punt was fielded at the 43 - that is a 42 yard punt that was a LINE DRIVE. Not sure it would have mattered who our gunners were on that one.

This is true, Ethan Evans had his two worst punts on Thursday Night and Mevis 48 yarder faded.

That first ugly punt of Evans would qualify as fugly.
Isn't he supposed to be getting better as he gains experience?
I've never seen a team fall apart on special teams in every category as bad as we have this year.
Karty went from an excellent prospect into a guy they were forced to cut.
Our coverage units suck.
I'm still waiting for us to have a long return that isn't called back because of a holding penalty.

In fairness it was the poor punt that set everything in motion. But lmk when you think of something Kendrick does well.

Not surprised at all. Guess Reeder gave Kendrick access the incriminating pics of McVay

It was a really ugly effort, Evans and Mcquade were there with the best chance for a tackle then Dolac I think it was and Kendricks who was doubled and probably held. Bad Punt and Bad effort including 21 but he wasn't the cause

Well, they did fire the STs coach. So while not entirely the STs fault to lose that game, it definitely contributed, if not ignited the spark of Seattle's comeback.

So whether it's the line up/configuration of the coverage unit, the players, how they were coached, etc... They certainly felt like STs was a huge factor in not only that loss, but a few others as well.

You know, I know and everybody knows that it is a team game and one phase or one play is never the cause for a team losing the game. That said I really don't get this desire to lay all the blame on the ST when the coaches and players as a whole failed.

After the opening drive of the 4th quarter the offense proceeded to have 5 drives where the longest was 1:36 and they totaled 102 yards. Offense had every chance to ice the game and shit the bed.

ST had every chance to keep us in the game and gave up a punt return for a TD.

Defense actually did pretty good in the 4th quarter they had 1 drive they gave up a TD in 2 plays for 57 yards after that it was 6 plays for a -1 yard total.

All we needed was the offense to ice the game and we almost did it but missed a FG.

Team lost a game and it sucks but sure throw all the blame on one facet of the game that largely has backups on the field instead of where all the money is on offense and the recent high draft capital on defense.
