Matt Gay was a 77% field goal kicker his rookie year with Tampa Bay and then was cut by them. I understand the frustration as I wanted to retain Gay too but with as many rookies we have on this roster we're going to have to be patient with a few of them unfortunately. Hopefully, in the long run, it'll be worth it.

McVay didn't pay blood to the Football Gods last time around when he changed the kicker. I fear their wrath is going to be mighty this time around.

Games will be lost by the kicker this year if we decide to be patient with a rookie kicker vs sign a vet.

I like I have often said you don't realize how important the kicking game is until you don't have a good one.

Not keeping Gay had yo be some bean counting stats-guy’s idea. There’s no way McVay’s memory is that short.

Being patient with guys like Brown gets people fired. They should be having tryouts today.

Gay is getting 5.6 mill per year on his deal, the Rams just dont have the cap space for that. Would have loved to have had him back but at that number its understandable how they couldnt

If Moody gets cut by 9ers, would we consider picking him up instead? Assuming he’s healthy. If we are going with a rookie, I think I’d prefer him over Brown.

Matt Gay’s 2023 cap hit is less than $3.1M this season.

Having a top-5 place-kicker instead of a below-average PK can easily represent a two game W/L swing.

Gay and Gaines were the two losses I have, and still do, question. Wish Snead had taken my calls.

i agree, this regime is not spending their money wisely. Hopefully, they can rebound, if not, I am seriously considering an overhaul across the board.

We had one of the best kickers in the league and only managed 5 wins. Is the kicker really gonna make that much difference when you don't have a good team?

Maybe not, but if it's a close game, it is nice to have a reliable kicker. Plus gives them someone for next year.

Is painful to watch but a kicker THIS year is low on McVays list of worries. Remember it’s ALL about seeing what we have in 2023 and locking/loading for 2024. Another thing to look at - How is he doing on kickoffs?
