Even if the Rams want Cruz, why should they surrender a first round pick? We need multiple players and have a limited salary budget.

We need to solidify the OL and add two starting safeties (probably 1 by FA and the other by draft). Sure we need receivers, but we only have three now. We can't throw all the money at one guy with other needs to fill.

Ya, as much as I like Cruz, we need too stay the course, focus on OL & DL & S re: $$$
draft young guns who we can mould ourselves

@Edro_41 There are better receivers in the draft then Victor Cruz and the 31 other teams recognize that. Giving a 1st rd pick for him..NO!

I still say it'd be worth it. I feel like we won't get Cruz's talent level with whoever we could draft with the 16th pick... Just my opinion though. I say make a push for him.

We can get Tavon Austin so...false. :p
Austin is good, but Cruz is a proven player. Tavon Austin could be another Donnie Avery.. you never know.
I really don't see *any* comparison between Austin and Avery. Two entirely different types of receivers, and Austin has a ton more in his arsenal. If anything, I'd be worried about Austin becoming the next Dante Hall. All-around skilled player, but no real impact on anything other than special teams.

Yea but Dante was also a college HB. Austin has it going for him that he was a WR and has developed there.

I'm not really comparing him to Donnie, I'm just saying we all thought Donnie was going to be great and... we all know what happened. I mean if we draft Tavon Austin, I'd be happy. I like him alot.. mainly because of his speed and YAC. But when the Rams draft WR's.. they just seem to never work out.. or they are a project. But if we bring in a player like Cruz... that changes everything. He's proven. He's the #1 guy. Sam will have his guy. I'm sick of bringing in rookie after rookie and they just become some okay/somewhat productive slot guy.

Well then, hope the Rams listen to jrry32 and bring in the right rookie(s). ;)

Yeah, I know. I was just pointing out a closer comparison. Both being "human joysticks" and all. There's still no 100% guarantee that Austin will become a productive weapon on offense, even though all the writing is on the wall. I think Tyler (A55) was just bringing into focus how Cruz HAS produced, and WILL produce at this level - whereas Austin hasn't, and might not.

FWIW, I think Austin will be a highly productive weapon on offense AND special teams.
But that's just a feeling and can't be proven, obviously.

If we bring in atleast 1 solid veteran / proven receiver I'll be happy. I just don't want a WR corp full of rookie and 2nd year players.

Austin Pettis is now our "veteran" going into 3rd year. :ww:

My guess is Revis. Fisher LOVES corners.
And Fisher drafted TE Cook, he loves TE's also + a want, as Snead would say

JMO but TE fills both the need for better blocking and the need for playmaking capacity,I would be in favor of a remarcable upgrade in our stable of TE's, that in no way is a criticism of Kendricks, I'm fine with him.

So is Cook ALL THAT?

Cook is 6'6'' with great hands, blocking is about coaching and wanting to do it..lWe have Cool Lou for the coaching..

although I sincerely doubt it, I will admit i am a bit worried when I hear we're after a "big name" and the Jets have a "really good offer" for revis from one team.

For Revis's talent, I would grab him in a heartbeat. But CB is not a need.. definitely not of his caliber.

Well if it was Darrelle Revis...we could've pretended he was the 2007 1st round pick.
