How long were the Falcons in the NFC West?

Now I was only half joking about the Concorde or its equivalent being used to ferry teams over the pond, or the Chargers to the states. 3.5 hours from NYC to London. It can be done.
Agreed 3.5 hours direct is nothing, because God knows in today's day an age flying commercial takes a whole regardless of where you are going.

It's the 21st century. The age of the internet. Physical travel is no longer a limitation of business. Telecommunications and web conferencing are now viable options. What I'm saying is, move them to London and have them just play Madden Online for all their games. Problem solved.

I took a non-stop flight from Phoenix Sky Harbor to London Heathrow once. It was kind of brutal, and i like to fly.

I don't really have a point but...

Like a moth to a flame, the NFL owners will go through any lengths that'll inflate their wallets in the short run no matter how bad a decision is.

I expect an NFL franchise in London to be a monumental failure, would rather reinstate NFL Europe starting in the UK.

It'll never happen.

First off a specialty type of thing like the NFL showing up in London once a year doesn't mean 8 games in a few months will work. There is still the novelty of it.

Player won't want to play there either. The tax issue will be a burden. Paying in each state and then in the UK will be expensive, no player will want to give up that much money.

I know...I took a middle seat from Chicago to Frankfurt, Germany....also non-stop. I am never flying to Europe again unless it's on first class.

While I think realignment would make things work better, I would go a bit farther than den-the-coach suggested. San Diego/London in the AFC East. Miami to the AFC South. Then Houston to the AFC West. That would make it East: NE/NY/Buff/Lon. South: IND/Tenn/Jax/Mia. North: Pitt/Clev/Cin/Bal. West: KC/Hou/Den/ Vegas.

Now a full realignment......is needed. But the Chowboys will never let it happen.

Nice job getting the divisions realigned, Bonus is the Patsies have to finally travel more than the flight to warm Miami every year.
NFL wants to go international, Mexico City is a ready made solution. Chargers already have a large fan base there, having played 30 feet from the border of Mexico for the past 50 years. Staying in the AFC West, travel and scheduling not near the logistic problem London presents. Sofi staduim only will have the Rams so they can leverage other NFL teams about moving them.

This does make sense,

Nice to listen to all the opinions. For now sending the Chargers to Mexico seems like a good idea. Sending them to England may have too many problems.

Makes too much sense, so it will never happen.

This always cracks me up, and it's not directed at just you. But do people realize as the league revenue grows the players pool grows as well? Shame on the owners for wanting more money and the players wanting more money right? :)

.

That said, no one in the league has more to lose (or gain) by possibly moving the team to another country than Chargers owner Dean Spanos, who addressed the report in a way that conjures images of him bursting into flames at the mere suggestion.

"[The report is] a lot of crap," he said, Mike DiGiovanna of The Los Angeles Times. "We're not going to London. We're not going anywhere. We plan to be in LA for a long f------ time. That was bullsh--, that story."

He wasn't quite done there, either, making sure to double and even triple down on his statement.

"It's total f------ bullsh--, OK?," he said. "We're not going to London. We're not going anywhere. We're playing in Los Angeles. This is our home.

"This is where I'm planning to be for a long f------ time. Period."

I think that they would want Spanos to flip the team to someone with deeper pockets. Then it could turn into a home field advantage. If you have to fly transatlantic 7 or 8 times a year, then you buy a Concorde jet for the team and set up a duplicate equipment operations facility on the east coast. No opposing team would do this for one or two games a year.

Chargers to London relocation rumors: Cowboys owner Jerry Jones says 'no,' move 'isn't viable'

In case you weren't aware, Jerry Jones doesn't simply dictate the moves of the Dallas Cowboys, but continues to shape the NFL as a whole. An integral driver in the decision to relocate the Rams from St. Louis back to his home city of Los Angeles, the power and influence of Jones seemingly knows no bounds, and when he wants something to take place -- more often than not, it does.

The same usually works in the inverse as well, and this is where the Los Angeles Chargers come into play. Having already relocated in 2017, and despite resistance from the City of San Diego and eight-time Pro Bowl quarterback Phillip Rivers himself, there are now rumors of another move that could be on the horizon. This time, it would involve much more than a short skip on Interstate 5, with reports that the Chargers are potentially open to relocatingacross the Atlantic Ocean to take up residency in London has been broached, but Jones quickly shot down the notion.

Asked in his Tuesday address to 105.3FM the Fan if moving the Chargers to London was a talking point amongst owners and the league, the Hall of Famer could not have been more clear in his stance.

"No," Jones said. "You're asking me the question: is it a viable option? And, no. The Chargers are committed to their future in Los Angeles and are going to be in a fabulous stadium. They're a great franchise.

"I've got my own story about the Chargers back when I was just dreaming of wanting to be involved with them. And one of my greatest teammates at Arkansas and one of the greatest players of all-time, Lance Alworth, was a Charger and I'm just going into what the Chargers mean to me. So, they're out there, had a great game against the Packers last week.

"They're going to be a big part of the Los Angeles sports scene."

Could the Chargers actually move to London? Will Brinson, John Breech, Ryan Wilson and Sean Wagner-McGough break everything down on the latest episode of the Pick Six Podcast. Listen to the full show below and be sure to subscribe right here for daily NFL goodness.

Before you dismiss Jones' comments simply because he isn't the Chargers owner, Dean Spanos, keep in mind the aforementioned influence, because he's a key reason the Rams are back in Los Angeles and readying to enter a near-$5 billion stadium in 2020 -- one the Chargers are set to share with them -- and a stadium with Jones' hospitality company "Legends" contracted to sell the naming rights to as well as help operate. That means Jones has a lot, to say the least, invested in seeing the Chargers stay put in the City of Angels, right alongside the Rams.

Does it mean the possibility of the Chargers, or any NFL team, moving to London is off of the table completely, though?

Doubtful, considering the league's growing foothold across the pond and continued rumors that eventually London will have a pro football team in the future. Most recently, it's been the Jacksonville Jaguars leading the way as rumored frontrunner for a London move, fueled in large part by owner Shad Khan's bid to purchase Wembley Stadium in 2022. Khan denies there's intent to move his Jaguars into Wembley if the deal goes through, but time will tell if that holds true. The same applies to the Chargers, but it seems infinitely less likely they'd be the team to make the jump, seeing as that would create massive divisional realignment issues as well, and especially if Jones has a say in the matter.

Spoiler alert: He does have a say in the matter, and his answer is a ironclad "no."

The way the NFL rubber stamps teams leaving their longtime fans is disgusting to me. And I think fans need to be more thoughtfully engaged with what they do and don't support.

Great....We get see a "partner" team in Inglewood that's half full on gameday, with 95% of the enemy fans dwarfing the Charger fanbase which did show up. Great look, NFL.
