Yeah... Don't agree. Too many refs want to demonstrate their authority and also be a star in the game. This jackass was needing additional excuse to throw his flag so he hip checked and threw in almost the same motion.
There is too much subjectivity to too many rules in the NFL. It tends to allow douchy refs to get attention they desire and also create a vagueness that results in game changing calls when no one can see what a player did wrong - including that player.
The NFL needs to stop implementing nuanced rules and enforce the more obvious and potentially injurious violations. They also need to make it clear to the refs that the game is not there to showcase the refs.
Their effect on the game should be very minimal and game changing calls SHOULD be reviewed. If you have a third down stop that would be overturned, that needs review just as much as a turnover - because that's what it is. Holding calls in the red zone and other major plays need to be looked at and reversed if it's obviously the wrong call. That can all be done very quickly and accurately with play being stopped only if a reversal is coming.
Bottom line. The NFL needs to make penalties clear and obvious.
Good luck with that. All The NFL needs is more delays!!
In fact you want to talk rules? The NFL put in this new TAUNTING RULE in case no one has been paying attention to.We would not be talking about this right now if it was never implemented in the first place.
As far as Marsh he gets to celebrate on 3rd down, but he needs to either get back on defense, celebrate with teammates,or get off the field before the next play.He has no business telling the Steelers all about it or make the Punter change direction,or that matter the official who he should have stayed clear from. —Maybe he doesn’t throw the flag if he steps away from the Ref? Maybe it was 50/50 he was going to make the call.
His judgement Imo was correct in the end. The booty bump was totally uncalled for,but he did stand clear on his spot. In basketball I saw a box out called a foul,so the Ref was wrong for that.
Marsh on a turnover can go run down the field & celebrate & act a fool. I still remember when The NFL was called the NO FUN league.I like the new rule of celebration.I like the direction of the taunt, but still needs to reformed.
Personally I have 2 Bear Fan friends I have yet to talk to about it on a unbiased opinion.
—Bottom Line is The Bears coaching staff got all into Marsh’s face!! Yelling & I’m sure telling him he has to be better than that.If it was a Mcvay coaches team he would’ve said the same thing, but coach not getting into the player like that on the sideline. To me I agree & think it is on the player to celebrate & enjoy the moment.Know & feel good about making an excellent play.Instead it was a ME move & not a WE move.
You can disagree, but as a long time Rams Fan I The Rams way under Mcvay.I also think AD99 against GBay needed to be better. His hit on Sunday shouldn’t have been a penalty. The Jalen taunting was there from an observation, but Mcvay thought it wasn’t. I thought Jalen getting his 2nd was expectable if it happened again. He was protecting DD21 & the way the Refs were letting the game get out of control ?There’s a fine line to it.
Sunday(MONDAY) is a Big Game!!
The Rams players are saying they just hope The Refs let them play. Each game is it’s own.The NFL always does what it does, but I will hold my stance on what I saw & Keyshawn Johnson described the same thing as well.Thise other guys have there opinions as well which makes it debatable. It has no baring on me or my feelings because I had already though the game was over.Hard lose for the Bears. That call should’nt have been the difference, but the & emphasis is there.
—We as Ram Fans can question why they made it to the SuperBowl & the rule change the following year about Replying PI.How did that workout.
—Higbee’s TD over turn was worse Imo than Marsh getting flagged.Rellay can stink as well.
