Not sure I want to watch the recording. I missed most of the game, but it was 10-10 when I got to put the game on my phone.

It seems the D has ED, they start soft and hope to get stiff before its to late. The OL is a big time weakness, needs help or lots of reps.

Folks will overreact. That’s all fair, and I lost $100 on this game. First time I’ve ever bet on anything.

Nothing went right this game. The defense will be there, but not running the ball or getting Robinson and Akers involved hurt.

We just didn’t have a good game plan ready IMO.
Oh so it’s your fault then!?

2 irksome things
1. Bills down on the 12 yard line and Ram corners off their man 8 yards????Morris can’t trust his corners on the 12 yard line? Yikes
2. Could not get any kind of pass rush with 4…Allen looked extremely comfortable all night.

Felt like Morris going back to his old ways and they sucked…

He was much better down the stretch, but all season before them, it was a garbage scheme…

Not blaming Ramsey beyond he was trying to do too much.

The safety play was bad tonight… they just didn’t seem to know where to be. Ramsey didn’t get beat on that long TD, I’m sure of it… that was the safety biting up on Allen instead of maintaining his deep read.

I laughed when he dropped his only target. Dude is just so tiny. Can't hold onto the ball when it's the size of him.
Higbee looked like he didn’t give a shit as well. Should have been benched after his 2nd drop ImO

Some random thoughts on this stinking pile of excrement we witnessed this fine September eve:

This was a playoff level game which is not good when you skip preseason. That said I do not like the fact they wanted the win more than our boys did. Some BS right there and no need to get into the examples from special teams on.

I'm not surprised by the defense. This was the same group of DBs out there for the most part that were letting guys run free last year. They just got saved by the rush after Von came in. And they got saved by not playing in the preseason thus holding onto their jobs. Hill was the Hill we know well: he giveth and taketh. Basically what this game is going to do is flip the switch on roles on the back end and force some moves. The faster Morris rips the bandaid off the better. Start the guys who deserve it Raheem and I am speaking specifically about corner here.

I am surprised by the OL. Here's the thing about playing for McVay on the OL... You can fuck up in the run game but this is a passing team and you cannot fuck up with your pass pro. Period end of story. And they fucked up the pass pro badly. As we discussed this year's OL group is light and it's weak at the top which is a very bad combination. Even if the latter turns around, which at this point I do not think will be the case, we have no room for error in the room. Boom struggles with power and Von has power plus speed so it was gonna be rough, though that was rougher than I hoped. But what is probably going to be a year long prob for us is RG. Shelton will get better vs lesser fronts, but he's gonna get his ass handed to him by stronger groups and we already have an iffy dude at Center so this is exacerbated by it.

With a coach of McVay's ability this might get turned into a positive. But they have to solve RG. They have to consider other options than Shelton IMO. Just like they have to look hard at corner.

Lastly Ramsey showed cracks last year. He has no business being on an island vs certain WRs. He faced one of them tonight. You double that MFer. This is partially on Raheem, who needs to make the QB work a little harder than that when it's a guy like Allen.

Honestly though, not having Stafford for most of the training camp with a new receiver, and a rotating third option was a recipe for disaster against a team like Buffalo. They’re the closest thing to a complete team on paper. They look good, and they proved they’re worth the hype by making a statement against the defending champs. I’m not mad about this, or worried. There’s 16 more games and non of those are against the Bills.

The good: Kupp, Scott, Lewis

The bad: Liam Coen rolling in with the Jeff Fisher offense, Stafford, Cam

The Ugly: Morris and his huge CB cushions

Also, the Bills are MONSTERS in the trenches… now we know why they were gonna pay ANY price for Von Miller. Also, they added Roger Stafford and we know how good he was once his shoulders both got repaired.

They very well may be the team to beat… but we saw their best and they saw our worst…

When we’re firing on all cylinders, I like our chances

A complete and total disaster tonight, but it was just 1 game. And week 1 at that. No need to panic , but some worrying signs.

The OL looks awful. Now consider how common injuries are in the trenches. And imagine if Noteboom - who is injury prone - gets hurt for any extended period of time. :explode1: Hopefully, things will improve. This unit has a bunch of new starters, and had not played a meaningful snap together before tonight, as McVay rests starters in pre-season (I think wisely, despite tonight's trouncing, which McVay's opening night records speaks to). But if things do not improve, the season might well be over before it starts for the 2022-23 Rams. No running lanes. No time to throw. And the Bills never even had to stack the box or rush more than 4 to do it.

It would be a huge boost to the o-line if Logan Bruss can improve as the season goes on and earn a roster spot.

Allen Robinson with one target all night is deeply troubling considering he was open many times. Correction - he had two targets, with his 2nd coming on the last play of the game, when Stafford threw him a complete prayer, which probably only rubbed salt in the wound. Not good. Hopefully, as chemistry and timing and trust builds between Robinson and Stafford, ARob will be more involved, and prove to be a weapon. It's just 1 game. But if not, the Robinson signing will prove to be a huge waste of cap space. And as great a Kupp is, a one-man show on offense will not cut it. Better teams will be able to take that away to some degree. The Rams' offense really took off last year when OBJ gave us a 2nd dynamic threat. We need to get ARob involved and fast.

Stafford's throws looked off tonight. Too early to say if it is the elbow or not. More likely, it was a product of him being under duress all inght IMO. Time will tell. But if Matthew's elbow is shot, that spells trouble.

New OC Liam Cohen did not have a very good showing. But again, with the o-line play, it is hard to tell.

Benny Skow had a really encouraging outing as a possession receiver, but he continues to look lost on deep routes. Stop using him there. By contrast, Tutu couldn't hang onto the ball with his one target. Atwell's time in horns might be limited.

The RBs had nothing to work with but I thought Hendo looked the better of the two. Time will tell if Akers can bounce back post-injury. He did not look good tonight, but to my eye, it was mostly the run blocking that was to blame.

Ramsey gets beat deep far too often for a top tier CB. But he is still among the best in the NFL. I don't get the hate in the GDT for Jalen.

The defence has room for improvement, but played alright IMO. They were on the field all night. Against a team like Buffalo, that will burn you every time. This was always a game that would likely need 30+ points to win. 3 turnovers is a nice output. We needed to force more punts, but in the modern NFL, the best offenses will move the ball on you and score points. It's the reality of the NFL. And Buffalo is one of, if not the best offenses. The LBers look much improved. Hill seems to be an upgrade on Williams, or at least the 2021-22 version of Wlliams. There is potential for this defence yet. Jury is still out on if Morris can dial up a stifling defence without the luxury of both Von Miller and AD99 in his front 7... time will tell.

Even apart from all of the above, the Bills just seemed to want it more tonight.

Lots of questions that will soon be answered with the passage of time. It is important not to over-react to one game. But definitely some worrying thoughts to consider.

Guys it's the first game. Reading some of these post. Ya you're mad but honestly I'm still stoked we're SB champs. I'm sure some of the Rams players are still in the clouds. But that'll soon be a thing of the past. A couple bad losses and they'll get their heads screwed on straight. SB hangovers are pretty common. I'm not ready to call it just yet.
They look rusty and honestly slow. Lots of mistakes tonight. Misreads, bad angles, and bad breaks. But some upside. Hill looks pretty good. Ya he made some mistakes but all in all he looked good. Wagner is a stud, and kupp is kupp.
Bummed Robinson was a no show. Looks like Matt and him are on different pages. Matter of fact Mathew looks a very rusty tbh, no pocket awareness, no pocket timer, sailing balls etc.

So now that I'm done rambling, let's see how we look next week. Have a longish week to work it out

Just got back to the hotel with a double vodka tonic in front of me.

Team was clearly not prepared for any game much less against the number one rated team.

Still World Champs.

Okay - now that I have calmed down

The obvious ones:

One - Buffalo is definitely a great team

Two - our OL was outmatched tonight - 7 sacks and no run game

Three - Morris and his soft zone - ick

The one not so obvious but should be glaringly stated:

The defense got tired in the second half. The defensive line just did not have the same push that they did in the first half. They were giving up long gains in the run game and were giving Allen all day to pass in the second half.

The only reason we stayed close in the first half is that we made Buffalo work down the field with 3 to 5 yard plays and they made mistakes which can happen on longer drives.

Second half - we were a sieve. And I blame that on not being in game shape due to it being the first game of the season and no starters played in the preseason. Still like the idea of not playing starters in the preseason but you better be prepared to send in reserves throughout the first game like Buffalo did.

I got to add, it was way hot in the stadium this evening. People watching got worn out.

Hot for both teams I know but thought a worthwhile add.
