Hell yeah they should pick him up. McVay would either make a qb or a head coach out of him.

Mayfield is a name and he made fun commercials but if he is worth anything then why is he always available these days?

Way too late in the season for any QB to get into a new system effectively IMO.

Grab him rt fucking now!!! He is better than han wt we have but even if he just pushes the button on the juggs machine keep him away from the niners. I didn't want CMC but the fact they just seem to be everywhere we are and now they on the threshold of another wasted season with huge extensions coming up and yes they kick our ass except when it counted but regardless they trash talk don't care just claim him.

All that being said he is still better than any of the qbs we have and not by a little and that's saying a lot!!! He is like wolfy but better. Both Perkins whom I like but has no arm and wolfy are armless.

Won’t make difference this year, but McVay would have a chance to evaluate him for the future.

..why? They're not playing for anything this year and would be picking first in the draft with the current order. Waste of 1.3 million if they did. He would absolutely not sign a long term contract there.

Yes. I think he's a guy we'll take a long look at this offseason. It would be great to get him in house, already learning the playbook, and see how he fits. (Plus, it won't affect us on the comp pick formula if we sign him now.)

Yeah I can see what you mean. Especially with the future of our QB in question. At least a better backup than what we have. Good grief.

Kind of a why not and keep him off the Santa Clara squad if they would even have a chance at him.

I will agree and repeat emphatically what I wrote when this thread first posted: I WOULD DO IT IN A HEARTBEAT.

Exactly for the reasons mentioned. No brainer.

For 1.3, absolutely make it happen. We’ve all seen too much of Wolford and Perkins.

Nothing to lose but also nothing to gain.
We gain, at minimum, someone who can throw the ball more than 20 yards down the field. At most we gain a backup that's won some games as a starter and a bridge QB when Stafford retires.

Baker has been in Cleveland which really has been a dog and pony show. The Carolina which was the same with differents dogs and ponies.

Maybe, just maybe, our dog and ponies can make a positive difference.

Does Texas need a backup?
