It was an amazing game.

That was one hell of a comeback in the second half.

Staley plugged some of the holes and our D played much better.
Our D is only going to get better.

I'm not upset at all about the PI call at the end of the game. We shouldn't have given up those big chunks of field anyway.

The Bills beat us today. They have a good team and its nothing to be pissed about.

I could be wrong but wasn't Donald screaming about a blatant hold on one of those big completions?
(It doesn't matter much. Just curious)

I agree with everything you said, except the dpi was an egregiously bad call, however, we have certainly had enough go our way in recent years to balance out. Im okay with not winning that game, but I hate that Goffs efforts will go unsung because of it.

Yeah... I really can't bitch about this game.

Moreover, the things that failed us come at a time and against a team that prime us to be very dangerous.

Things that are looking excellent going forward

1) If Staley needed any further evidence that he needs to blitz more, this game was it. It wasn't so much that the blitz was getting home, but it made Allen get off his spot and be much more inaccurate. I think we'll see more blitzes, although they'll be strategic, but yeah, we shouldn't see much more of that lay back D.

2) Between Terrell Lewis coming back and Jachai Polite in the wings as well as Ebu not holding contain on the edge, I think we're gonna see some shake up on the pass rush. No way we just sit back and wait for things to change. This D with more pass rush? Oof.

3) This team doesn't let a flat half get them down. I didn't see ONE guy hanging his head when the team was down 28-3. Teams aren't gonna go undefeated in this day and age. This team is gonna fight like hell for a full 60 mins or more if need be.

4) McVay is sticking with the run game. And Hendo... looks like a real find. Down 28-3 and he's sticking with the run. That's a sign of a team that doesn't panic.

I dunno.

The Rams came out super flat and spotted the #1 offense in the NFL a 28-3 lead and nearly pulled off the upset. But for a TERRIBLE call, they do.

When we don't come out flat, we dominate.

Good post. While none of us likes to lose, there were a lot of positives to come out of this game. And a lot of opportunities for learning where we can improve. And it's still very early in the season. It's a loss, but it's a game we can build on.

Agreed on Goff. He was surgical in the second half. Absolutely shredded a great defense. And yes, Donald was held badly on one of those Allen plays where he ran around behind the LOS. Can't remember what the outcome of the play was.

His command and poise this year are just light-years ahead of where he was last year, imo.
His achievements will always be credited to McVays schemes and play calling. Every QBs success relies on good schemes and play calling, but for Goff, its always credited to McVay.

Goff - **drops back on 3rd and long, slides in the pocket, makes his reads while avoiding pressure and threads a perfect needle to convert and puts us in scoring position the split moment before being clobbered**

Talking heads - "Sean McVays offense is hard to stop, isn't it? He just keeps attacking this defense..."

I especially liked when Sean McVay tossed that pass to Woods on the bootleg right before Epenesa blew him up. It was truly an impressive play by McVay to turn a sack into a TD. ;)

Someone clever should edit together a "McVay Highlights" reel from all of the times Goff makes a play and the heads talk about McVay.

For a game that ended as a loss, I feel pretty confident moving forward with this team overall.

I've watched the 2nd half three times now and man it doesn't feel like we lost this game. That damn 3rd and 22. Very entertaining game.

Not apologizing. Input any losing organization. Cmon, there are no moral victories in professional sports.

There's a difference between losing 42-0 and losing whatever the score was today. Pretending otherwise is black and white thinking and garbage analysis. I don't buy into moral victories either, but there's a difference between the game against the Ravens last year and this game, surely?

I feel like what Seattle is doing isn't sustainable.
Idk man, Wilson is in his prime and he's got that offense humming. The Rams have found some outstanding balance again offensively.

I feel like us and SEA are the divisions best teams yet there are problems defensively for both teams.

We're in the toughest division in the NFL, and I think we can win it. SF is beset by injuries. I still don't buy into Arizona as a great team. And Seattle revolves entirely around Russell Wilson. Yes, Wilson is playing dominant football, but that defense of theirs is very beatable. McVay has tended to have Pete Carroll's number when it comes to tearing apart his scheme. We'll just have to find a way to slow down the midget.
