Looking at this HUGE Rookie camp/tryout roster has me thinking that two things are going on here.
1) a message to all on the team. Best 90...then 53 will stay on the team. Even some of our vets have to be looking at this and wonder to themselves "why so many? Our roster is full? ..... Or is it..??"
2) getting a look at guys that may be called upon as TC unfolds and either cuts or injuries start to mount. they will have a good first hand knowledge of seeing these guys up close and personal.

Seems to me that this organization is finally taking the smart approach to how they run things. I see more "purpose" behind their moves and actions, not just window dressings.

anthony mcmeans and jared collins are not on the therams.com roster anymore.
Strange they officially signed him Friday morning. Gonna have to search for news.

Pertaining to McMeans...Two things...Toth or Eldrenkamp was so impressive, they will move forward with the triumvirate of Sullivan, Rhaney & Eldrenkamp or sign Toth.

There currently 85 players on the official site roster. We should know soon who the final 5 are going to be. I'm sure they want everyone available for the next mini camp on May 23rd.

Just the culture change...There was NO WAY after those losses at the end of the season we wouldn't turn the roster over. You can't have guys quitting still on the team...as Joyner says, "talking about their cars and girls". And yeah, I'd use udfa's to do it if necessary.

And trust me, if Toth is healthy, he's making the team.

NSU's Ryan, Llorens shine at Pro Day
Staff Reports9:05 p.m. CT March 22, 2017

NATCHITOCHES – A couple under-the-radar NFL Draft prospects from Northwestern State put up over-the-top numbers Wednesday at the Demons’ Pro Day in Turpin Stadium.

Receiver and return specialist Shakeir Ryan zipped to a 4.34 time in the 40-yard dash. Then he did it again, confirming what’s believed to be the fastest mark this century at NSU’s annual Pro Day.

Running back De’Mard Llorens wasn’t far behind, posting a 4.43 40. That was impressive but paled in comparison to two jumps that helped him leap onto the radar of NFL scouts: a 41-inch vertical by the 5-9, 213-pounder, and a 10-7 standing broad jump. Both marks also are thought to be tops at NSU this century, said veteran football operations director and NFL liason Dan Korn.

Why do I feel like the "youngest roster in the league" distinction is our superbowl? :baghead:

Shakeir Ryan is intriguing especially if he can show something as a returner. McVay seems open to cutting down on Tavon's PR reps, so if a guy can show well in that role as well a kick returner that could get them a spot on the roster.

Cooper and Thomas were average to really bad as returners during the season and Thomas dropped way too many balls a receiver. Thomas was a good gunner, but as receiver if that is your only value to the team the odds of him making the roster are slim. If Shakeir can show some return skills I could see him making it over Thomas. If he is an explosive as some say he may be a better receiving prospect anyway.
