Yeah Staley doesn't fuck around. He knows what he wants and will play the guys who best fit.
Didn't take him long to put Williams at CB2 which was the right call. Didn't bat an eyelash starting a 6th rounder over a higher pick from the same draft and over a second year talent that had excelled in a different scheme. That call is looking good too.
This dude has something to him IMO. I am very pleased with his start as our DC. I expected him to have some settling-in pains but so far he has been on point.
Based off of snap counts Hill is the CB2 in base sets and moves inside to the slot in Nickel/Dime packages.
Yeah and I think that is mid-change of the process of Hill losing his job. Going into camp he was the clear CB2 but Williams had outplayed him down the stretch. Didn't take Staley long to see that. Won't be long and Hill will be the nickel corner only IMO. We'll see.
We’ll see ? Buffalo will be an interesting game. Hill made a couple excellent tackles & Williams made that game changing pickoff.
Not sure about this. My impression is that Williams, not Hill, is already playing the outside snaps. I believe Hill is maybe just playing the nickel.
Williams played 66 out of 71 possible snaps at cb, with Ramsay and Wiliams each playing 71. So Hill can't really lose many more snaps to Williams. Long played 8 snaps.
So Rams are playing three corners almost all the time, or at least did so against Philly. In effect, a nickel almost all the time.
Maybe someone can clarify who is playing what and where?

I think you're probably correct. I could go back and pay attention to who was where but all I can say with certainty was Hill was in the slot when I noticed him and looked pretty good particularly in tackling. He's pretty tough.
Aubrey Pleasant is such a good coach. I went to camp last year & Hill stuck out.

D.Williams fits good at that LCB spot. I think in Staley’s defense guys are moving around. RAMsey is that slot guy a lot. That was the whole thing about him.
Go back to that 9er loss you want to blame the O’Line 4. 3rd & 19 both Rapp & RAMsey get caught inside. It was WTF?? Just saying I think Hill fits best at RCB. Staley wants to use RAMsey to confuse Offenses.
Fuller has looked good. Weedle when at camp looked slow & small. He also looked black? Meaning long sleeve jersey & dark helmet. It was weird thinking this guy totally sucks.When I’d look at the sheet it was who is this guy again.
Weedle is a football junkie,but his NFL playing career needed to end.I think he will find himself back in the NFL off the field & make some noise with his knowledge & passion for the game.

My prediction is that Hill won't be a Ram next year. In fact if he keeps allowing completions and missing tackles he might be gone at the bye week. He's an overpaid backup. IMO he's only on the team like Blythe because of COVID. Neither one is probably on the team next year.
Staley's prevent base scheme sucked and got ripped just as I knew it would. Staley waited until it was too late to turn his dogs loose and it cost the game. He obviously struggles to make adjustments, especially on the fly. Every week it's the same passive scheme and you don't think OC's don't see it? Why do bad coaches get passes on this board? If I can see it from my TV set then most certainly OCs see his wide-open unprotected flats.
Was nice to see Hollins in the rotation. This defense will get ripped in the playoffs unless he gets more aggressive.

Hollins gets a sack if Allen doesn't face mask him. Will be interesting to see if Hollins can emerge.
The Rams won't say it but I am sure Hill is on the hot seat. Might have to get Burgess lots of playing time vs the Giants and the other bottom feeders.
Im just gonna say it. Hill should have been cut at half time and made to take the bus home to collect his shit. Ive never liked the dude at CB. He has always been a weak link. Sure, he makes a big play here and there. But that doesn't make up for allowing damn near every pass and missing so many damn tackles.
I hope we make a move somewhere soon and move on from him. If not, it wont be pretty for us. I would be thrilled with an average vet.

Just wondering about Tyler Rapp in the 4th qrt. ? I just saw there was a 3rd & 22 after Aaron Donald’s Sack or Grounding. It happened last season as well on a big play.

Austin Blythe ?? Well it wasn’t COVID that keeps him as the starter.I can’t state on Sundays game.The Rams offense did there part. I don’t know what happened that first drive.I do know that first & goal from the 3 Line & have 2 sacks & a missed FG sucks.

David Long & Brian Allen need to step up. That is how good teams reload.

I dont see the hate for Blythe. I think he is solid. He isnt the best. But he is def the best we have. Im more excited about how Corbett has been playing
Okay you and I disagree on Blythe,, IMO, he's playing well and Brian Allen is not the backup as Allen has been inactive every week, Coleman Shelton appears to be Blythe's backup. Agree on Hill, the slot is not where he belongs and I'm not sure you want David Long because it appears Long has not progressed as we had hoped, but maybe he needs the opportunity.
As to the miss FG, Sloman didn't miss by much with swirling wind, but he missed and it was his first opportunity for a longer field goal.

Yesterday's DB played well below the talents & skills of its whole.
Troy Hill has not continued from where he left off last season. Hill has been off his game in all 3 gms. Rams gave Hill a sizable pay raise this season based on his late season perfromance last season. to just below $5 million. flv posted back in March that if Hill continues to start @ get the snaps his cap hit will increase sizeably.
Darious Williams has been injured & we were lucky he was a go against the Bills its been some time now since Darious Williams has been involved in full practice & he may go IR if his Achilles degrades any more. Ramsey is not playing like a top 10 corner yet. Sure makes all my very positive posts on Ramsey to be mostly wrong & full of my hype to this point.
David Long needs to get some large doses of Nickel-Back team #1 practice this week. He was awful when he was on the field. My hope is for him to take over the Nickle......if not Pleasant will have to spend some time with him here soon. Snead looks to have missed on the 3rd rd corner David Long because I see nothing that impresses me about his play.
The safety situation seemed to be rolling along well with Fuller & JJ III starting but once Fuller was injured JJ III just fell apart. JJ III was
yesterday. Not much there to miss next season when he departs for bigger paydays. Not going to fault Taylor Rapp too much he was busy knocking off the rust that he has been collecting for the last 6 weeks.My opinion on Fuller until this Bills game was lower than it should have been.....he may have been our best playing DB thus far this season ......even being a rookie! I sure hope that his shoulder does not cause him to miss too many games.

We saw the bad Hill yesterday. Hopefully for his sake he'll turn it around this week.
The good thing here is our top two CB spots are on point. And there's some other options like Deayon (who they'll activate to the roster IMO if Fuller needs IR). Filling slot CB isn't the hardest thing to do, at least we're good outside the hashes.
Let's see how the Rams respond. Haven't seen the all 22 yet so not sure exactly wtf the prob was for the most part, guessing comms and guys playing the fucking call but I would guess that Staley is going to get in some ass or needs to. That's where he's gonna be challenged IMO.. Sitting guys like Ramsey down and getting it through their head that playing the call is the priority.
