So me and a buddy are planning on traveling from Missouri to LA for the home opener. We know virtually nothing about the area. Where are good places to stay not too far from the stadium. We would also like to do some touristy things as we've never been to LA

Don't know what things may be like in September but under normal conditions, 1st time in LA area;
Take a tour of the rich and famous, take a drive down Pacific Coast Hwy through Malibu, Universal Studios,
I'm not a partyer so I don't know about that scene. Some others on here may other thoughts. Of course, there's always Disneyland and Downtown Disney.

I would just do a decent hotel near the airport and rent a car for your exploration day(s). For gameday, just Uber in and out. Your hotel will only be 2-4 miles from the stadium
I highly recommend APL Restaurant....Simply amazing and tell them Adam Perry Lang sent you.
If you like space stuff visit the Griffith Observatory. They have some cool shows you can sit back and relax to. After, you can cruise down Hollywood blvd and walk on the Hollywood walk of fame. Plenty of stuff to do in LA.
I was thinking of buying season tickets and going to some games and selling the others but decided against that. I'm going to this home opener like the opener back in LA vs the Gulls.
I stayed in a VRBO in Venice Beach and took the expo to the game but i won't stay in VB again due to horrible experience last time.
I was thinking of staying in a VRBO on Santa Monica Beach and taking expo to the stadium. Is this feasible by your determination?

I honestly can't say. I've never used the Expo before. Santa Monica is more my taste than Venice though. Personally if I were coming from out of town I would want my gameday to be as painless as possible. Meaning the least amount of traveling between my hotel and the stadium. If I were staying for extra exploration days I'd do as I mentioned earlier and just rent a car to explore with on the non-game days.
With the VRBO and the Expo I'm Pretty sure that at some point your getting in an Uber from the Expo station to the stadium. To much of a PITA for my sorry ass to do all that!

I’m going too. See you there. I just bought a ticket. $299.00 for nosebleed seats. Plus fees. Ouch.
Honestly, not taking into account the new stadium X factor, it's way to early to buy tix. In this electronic age you can buy the day before or game day and get decent deals. Even though we have our tix I've watched over the past 4 years and there's always deals to be had on Stubhub, especially a week out till game day. People selling this far out are gouging, hoping for a miracle sale.
As far as touristy things to do, I'd check out the "Hollywood Walk of Fame" on Hollywood Blvd. Best spot I think on Hollywood Blvd. is between Highland Ave and Orange Ave... always crazy there, tons of people and stuff to do and stuff to eat (when there's not a pandemic, anyway). Also consider seeing a comedy show... definitely a "Hollywood" thing to do, and the prices are pretty good for the entertainment value. I'd recommend either The Comedy store or the Laugh Factory, just pick whichever headliner you like the best.
Don't know anything about the area near the new Stadium... most of the glitzier LA stuff is further up north.
Keep asking questions and do your research, planning ahead for your trip will make a huge difference. LA is not a good city to not know what the hell you're doing... it's not like NYC at all, it's super-spread out and goes on forever...!
Lastly-- on game day, make sure you are damn close to the stadium. You do NOT want to travel far before the game if you can... LA traffic is a freaking beast, it's as bad as the hype.
Enjoy, seeing the Rams at their new stadium should be epic.

Well it was on Ticketmaster, so yeah I got gouged. I just wanted to make sure I had a ticket for the first game played there.

Yes I agree! Didn't know there was that much homeless in Venice especially just before and after midnight not smart to be out there. I like Santa Monica a ton and it's more my cup o tea. The biggest thing was having a place on the beach and being able to not be in a 'hotel' persay. I guess an uber will suffice.

I definitely get why you got them now! Who knows, this game could be an absolute sell-out with the only tix available being astronomical!
If your not adverse to a rental car, I would suggest an Orange county beach to stay. Huntington and Newport are awesome (I am biased though). Yes, they're almost 3 times as far than Santa Monica is from the stadium but well worth it. With a rental car on game day I would just drive to a point about 5 miles from the stadium, park, and uber from there (If you don't want to pay for stadium parking).
