I didn't make a thread about trading Cooks months ago as the right move due to those that think ANY and ALL moves Rams management do is a good move (defend coaches/payers when they are here and talk bad about them the moment they are gone). The Gurley and Cooks unloading show you first hand that they do make mistakes (which they realize) and even though some of us don't get paid for a living in the football world some that follow the game and business of the NFL, more specifically our team can see mistakes being made in the process of occurring.

I'm saying this right now, and I guarantee Snead/McVay have talked about if not actively looking for a trade partner to get Ramsey the hell out of dodge.

Attitude and locker room presence is huge for their model and anybody who doesn't conform will get a pink slip or traded i.e. Gurley. Ramsey is a ME not We play period, end of story, I was horrified to hear we traded 2 1st's for him. We need to do damage assessments and figure out what we can get back for him.

Logistics you might ask? IDK tbh, I'm sure they can write a contract before a team trades for him to ship his ass off that Ramsey, The Rams and said team agree on. Trade his ass to the Dolphins, somebody, anybody, he just needs to go.

No, he cost us 2 1st round picks an untold cap # which we don't have obviously.
for possibly a HOFer level talent. I'd give up to firsts which are just chances to pick up a good player, no guarantees, in exchange for a gtd great one....We have the real deal in Ramsey and there is no guessing and hoping the new kid(s) from college pans out.

We wouldn't get 2 first rounders for him now, as he's only got a year left on his contract. So moving him would be a net loss. Most efficient "win" in this scenario would be signing him long term because he has a lot of pride and I don't think he'll quit once he gets paid.

But that said I don't totally disagree and I'll say this... IF you think there is a chance you can't sign him OR that he's a fucking jackass or whatever type of personality you don't like then trade him now yes. Because you can still get something for him. But only the Rams can answer that one.

Hell no. Again, hell no.

You didn't trade those first round picks for a cornerstone cornerback just to trade away for a return that will give you nothing.

Yeah when he decides to play, he faked a back injury in Jacksonville to not play. You don't win with guys like this. His attitude of ME will never set up a team atmosphere. Guy hasn't inked a deal with us yet which I guarantee they been trying to do but he wants crazy stuff I'm sure. Hearing conversations coming from Ramsey's mentor Deion that happened directly reaffirm this guy going to be a POS to deal with. Breaking the bank, being up against the cap, and costing multiple players and a team is not worth a HOF player. Not even close. We'll just a team with a few studs and nothing else.

Was Moving Gurley a net loss? Was moving Cooks a net loss? Yes to both, but you have to mitigate and damage control when you realize there are issues with the decisions you've made. I have a feeling he's going to be dealt and should be dealt for those reasons you stated. :)

Amazes me how many people want stars and not a winning team. Having the best player at a given position doesn't win you Super Bowls.

Of course he's going to break the bank: he's arguably the best damn corner in the NFL. Corbin, I love you, I respect your opinions, but this time, you're wrong. Are you going to blame the team in Jacksonville for quitting on Tom Coughlin or just Ramsey? Because the entire team quit on Coughlin and a lot of them (Campbell, Ngoukwe, Ramsey, Fowler, etc.) got traded and/or have demanded trades because of him.

Did I ever, ever say that? It doesn't guarantee a Super Bowl, no, but it at least gives you a chance to compete for one every year. Look at Reggie White: he all but revitalized Green Bay after bringing Philly close numerous years. Look at Deion Sanders (whom is mentoring Ramsey): he won with the Cowgirls and Whiners.

So your telling me it's okay to stop with effort and throttle your play because you don't like a situation? You can still do what you do but demand a trade! Attitude is a huge thing and it effects those around you, which doesn't surprise me others in the locker room did the same thing. Not saying Coughlin was not at fault, but you can only control what you do, not what other around you do.

This is the difference, you can't build teams or have a guy like this in the locker room because it's damaging. i.e. Gurley.

I trade 2 1st's for a guy like Patrick Peterson in his hey day or somebody on that equivalent. Absolutely a mistake to trade for him, and I know others think the same because I read them bitching about players that do the same thing but since he's a Ram now it's ok. :palm:

Actions begets words, you give you Ramsey 20 mil a year and what do you think happens? You get a better team? Better players? No, you get less of those.

What if Ramsey gets injured or doesn't feel like playing? Then what? You gambled it all on some guy paying him all that money without the ability to bring in fresh, cheap talent. SMH.. Doesn't make sense.

Rams knew what and who Ramsey was when they traded for him. They clearly value his on field ability over any potential issues personality wise. They wouldn't have given up 2 1sts for him, knowing that they'd have to shell out for his contract, if they didn't.

I'm saying that a lot of Jaguars players demanded a trade because of Coughlin. Calais Campbell is one of the most respected D-lineman in the league, and even he demanded a trade. Jacksonville is a cesspool. Don't blame Ramsey for quitting when the whole damn team quit on Coughlin and/or hated his guts. It was not just him, and he wasn't even the first. He just happened to be the most high-profile.

Yes, you can build teams like that because there are 53 players who all have different personalities. Ramsey wants to get paid like the top corner. That's fair.

And yes, Ramsey is exactly like Patrick Peterson in his prime. And he's in his prime right now; he won't be a free agent until he's twenty-five/twenty-six. And the difference between Ramsey and some of those other players? Ramsey is on a HOF trajectory. Those other players...aren't.

Actions speak louder than words, but they don't beget them. I never said I wanted a losing team. Please don't put words in my mouth.

If I give Ramsey twenty-million-per-year, I'm getting a lockdown cornerback to go along with the best interior lineman since ever. If that doesn't make a better team, I don't know what to tell you, Corbin.

And Ramsey isn't going to quit once he has his millions. With Deion as a mentor? No. Deion only stopped playing once Washington got a washed-up version of him. Why? Because he simply had too much pride to quit, much like Ramsey does.

I wasn't a fan of the trade either but it's done. I'd at least like to see one full season in horns. If he plays like an All Pro I won't be that concerned with what they gave up.

they weren't mistakes when they were healthy.

injuries can make any contract look bad.

once the rams saw they weren't getting value in the contracts they dealt with it immediately.

Hopefully McSnead vetted all those potential attitude complications before trading for him. We know it means a lot to McVay. I remember thinking Ramsey was a clown after that brinks truck stunt though.
