I don't see Stafford throwing enough passes to anyone not named Nacua to make a trade for a WR worthwhile.
Yeah but my point was that Nacua (and/or Adams) might not be available for seventeen games.

With a healthy Nacua and Adams, I think the Rams WR group is outstanding but if either goes-down for a few games, the same WR-unit is very average; AND, the way Nacua plays plus Adams age, their ability to stay healthy for 17 games is a challenge.

Let’s get Darnay Holmes still gots a few years plus he would most likely dominate under this coaching staff/team.

Trade for an offensive weapon for Stafford and McVay to underutilize? They need to better use the guys already on the roster.
I think the Rams are a little weak across the middle in the pass game. Adams is contact shy as hell across the middle, dude has alligator arms and loses the ball in that context. Higbee is up and down, some days better than others. Rams pretty much depend on Nacua for that role now, with Kupp gone. Allen is ok as long as nobody is on him, which is rare since he's not particularly elusive or instinctive as a pass weapon. Tutu is too small and Stafford can't see him anyway. Fergy got some usage on Sunday but looked very rook-like. Etc, etc.

So it's not a big need, but it would not surprise me if McVay wants another big weapon for the middle of the field. Now maybe Ferg can do that with some more prep. But I don't think their issues are underutilization. I think maybe we value our boys a bit too much at times.

Plus, Simmons is a natural at NT or 3-Tech, so we could play Fiske, Simmons, and Turner in our base D. Or we can bring Fiske in on passing downs and use Poona Ford in our base D to strengthen the run D. Will give us a lot of variety and depth on the DL. Nasty rotation. Simmons is a game-wrecker, so I understand why they'd be interested. He's not just a gifted pass rusher. He's a lot like Jared Verse. Uber physical dude who will bring it against the run and pass. But you only make this trade if you're going to keep Simmons, given the compensation. There's an opportunity cost to that.
You always gotta consider something when we're talking about a game-wrecker. But the opportunity cost may be that you're plugging in Simmons at the expense of not extending Turner or Young. Is that worth it?

This 100%. I'm pretty convinced that the issue isn't the need for more weapons; Stafford will mostly just use his top 2 weapons no matter how many we have.

I'd be all in on buying a dynamic offensive weapon with size if one were for sale, but no one is selling that.

Anybody hear of Rams having interest in Jeffrey Simmons? There was a rumor a while back about Titans willing to move him for a 2nd rounder. Today I see Rams supposedly have interest.

I haven't heard anything but just the thought of him with poona, verse and young is just...

Oh No GIF

Just to clarify, the rest of the league is saying oh no and the Rams are, well, you know.

Man that makes no sense to me.

Simmons is a terrific player but his 2025 salary is $17.5M ... that's more than the Rams' current cap space.
Plus, the Rams need to preserve their cap space in 2026 and 2027 ... Nacua, Turner and Young are all in their third years ... and Simmons cap hits the next two seasons are $26M and $28.5M.

Then there are the snaps.
On many defensive plays, the Rams only play 2 defensive linemen, with 2 Edge players, 2 LB and 5 DBs.
How could the Rams find enough snaps for Simmons, Ford, Turner and Fiske? Forget about Tyler Davis ...
he would never see the field.

Adding Simmons would be making a Team Strength even stronger (which is nice) but it would be at a major cost of valuable resources ... draft capital and salary cap space.

You're way too logical. Dream a little. It's costs nothing.

Whittingham will be fine. He was very good last season when he was the main guy in 2 games. The first when the top 2 guys were injured and the second when Mcvay sat the starters.

Let's see what he can do with a stud wr out there with him
