That's a strong argument in favor of trading-away first round picks because that AIN'T an impressive group.

Now, the Rams could have (would have) selected different players but when you consider the players acquired for those 1st round draft choices, it shows that McVay and Snead know what they are doing ...
Just imagine how much MORE successful they would be if they would just start taking my calls!

By-the-way ... I am interpreting the Thumbs-Up emojis in response to my post, as an Agreement from All that the Rams' Brain Trust SHOULD ABSOLUTELY be taking my calls/advice on personnel matters ... Thanks Guys!

So for comparison, it’s reported the Rams showed interest in AJ Brown. Apparently they didn’t have to have him, but probably would’ve taken him at the right price. So the break point is “gotta have” versus “would like to have”.
Agree. Stafford, Ramsey, McDuffie and even Von were all must haves for McSnead.

As to McDuffie, you had the perfect storm. You had a top flight CB available with championship pedigree plus his college coach, now coaching the CB's and most likely pounding the table for him.

I think they value the combine just fine.. they just can get the value out of it in their own way.
As far as testing goes? They look at things differently, for sure.. but keep in mind things like Kupp's exceptional short-area quickness in testing and Puka's great work in the "guantlet".. these were "special" traits that the Rams saw, for sure.

But.. the last true "freak" prospect I remember them drafting purely on physical potential was Robert Rochelle.
There have been a few drafted on pure athletic potential....the edge rusher who was fast but oft injured.....cant remember his name....he was drafted on pure athletic potential as well.

I'm simply saying that when it comes to trading for proven talent (i.e., top-tier vets, like Stafford, Ramsey, McDuffie, Von, etc), Snead overpays, because he wants his man and refuses to be outbid by other teams. But he's far less willing to overpay for draft picks, who are not yet proven
I agree.
Because they are proven Im sure he doesn't consider it an overpay.
How is the Rams 2026 draft class going to be?.....well, considering we can slide McDuffie into that #29 spot already its a winning draft.
The Rams have a full allotment of picks still, including the 13th overall pick, and have added an All-Pro CB....WINNING!!
