I agree with them. On the QB part anyway. Flag football. What I can't stand is when a pass rusher goes by a QB and gets a finger on his helmet but it isn't called. Some QBs point to their head while looking at the referee in hopes of getting a cheap flag. Dude, the rules have already made you a pussy, don't act like one too. Brady was guilty of that, so hasn't he consciously contributed to the pussification?
On "defenseless player" penalties, yeah those hits are great to watch but I understand the desire for protection. On the other hand, in the old days, a hit like that could jar the ball loose creating an incompletion or fumble. In the old days, some WRs going across the middle protected themselves by quickly growing alligator arms. That was the ultimate desire of the big hit. Make you think about going across the middle and exposing yourself. Of course nobody wants a Stingley incident either.
It's a fine line. If you protect the prize fighter by outlawing head shots or race drivers by limiting speed, it's not prize fighting or racing anymore.
