This mystery surrounding what is ailing TGII ....will continue until the Ram Organization puts out an official press release after this season is concluded. Rams just this season invested $57.5 million in him to be their RB for the next 4 yrs. & are sure to use extream caution with him on any health problem. You will have to have a brain cloud not to know there is an ongoing health issue ...something is wrong. I find no fault in Gurley period no matter how important this past weeks game was. He is the best & most dangerous RB in the NFL when healthy IMO.

IMO I think TGII has several healthy items bothering him. Good chance he will undergo several health-related surgeries this offseason. One is sure to be on that inflamed swollen left knee. When observing Gurley after being tackled, he takes a bit of time to place himself in a corrected position when getting up. He will not utilize his left knee to get up from the turf/ground always using his right knee to lift himself. Plus over the last half of the season when the Rams do huddle Gurley will often bend forward & lower his upper torso to stretch his lower back as if he was uncomfortable or his lower back is tight.

I saw a tweet earlier saying that Gurley was on the field for like 46% of the playtime to 54% for CJ.

Could it be that the game and the defense dictated more than just not playing Gurley?
I think that was part of it. Running it up the middle probably seemed like a better strategy than trying to go around the outside with Gurley. Especially with the timing and play action affected by the noise. But that doesn't mean Gurley was 100%.

Yes, Gurley's normally high level of production has been absent from this Ram team now well over a month & a half ...52 days since Gurley had his last 100 yd rushing game. By the time SB day arrives Gurley will have gone 2 full months of this season since his last big over 100 yd game. You will have to have a brain cloud not to know there is an ongoing health issue ...something is wrong. I find no fault in Gurley period no matter how important this past weeks game was. Didn’t he rush for over 100yds against Dallas?

Rumor has it that Gurley may possibly have a career ending knee injury. Something about not having cartilage and his knee is bone to bone and that’s why it flares up. I have no source just something I read so take it with a grain of salt.

I doubt we would have given him that huge contract if our medical staff was aware of that. I still don’t think him sitting out most of the game Sunday was injury related. I think he pissed somebody off and we all know who that would be.

He was bad. Early on the entire offense struggled and generally seemed to be playing nervous / tight. It wasn't just Gurley. But his turnover leading to points, and the drop on 3rd down, led to McVay going with the hotter (or at least less cold...) RB. I think it was the right decision. I think Todd bounces back in Atlanta. If he doesn't we are very fortunate to have Anderson, who is not only a proven #1 RB but a veteran one at that who has been the big game before, performed admirably, and won. The Rams ground game should be in good shape going forward.

May also force us to keep him on board.

I go with TG is not 100%. He reached for the pass that became an INT. It was on him fast but, he didn't move is feet. The big question is can he rest up and play like he did against Dallas. Rams can use him as a 1-2 punch even if CJ has a few more carries.

Ticked off McVay? I hope not. What could TG have done to tick him off? Well, I guess the missed catches, one being intercepted, could tick him off. So, ok...I'm following you!

IMO people are reading way too far into things, the way I saw it Todd was having an off day and the way he talked seemed to me he took himself out because he was mad at himself for the drops. I think McVay said ok and let him have a break but put him back in there for his TD to get his confidence up. McVay said yesterday Todd is healthy and I didn't detect any lie there, seems Gurley just took a break to get his head right, hey those mental things happen sometimes. Is his knee sore, I'm sure it is some, but all this "he's really hurt, he needs surgery, his career is over, McVay was mad... "Come on, much ado about nothing. Todd is gonna have a big game in Atlanta

No doubt he has an injury and is less than 100%. He looked good against the Cowboys after 4 weeks of rest so that is encouraging. He is a team player and saying all the right things at this time.

We really don't know God still in those limited plays did make a couple key plays but my wishful thinking says if he were injured the interview he gives is handled different. I think he would know better even the the size of his heart being huge I don't think he promises the world a huge game etc know he is hurt and would be an even bigger letdown. He may say something like I will be ready to go next game.....I will be better next game which wouldn't be all that difficult but to say what he said means that he will be at his best. I never though he was 100% but I thinking he about 85%. As far as career threatening I agree with above poster no way Rams give all that money guaranteed etc without checking everything out especially on a running back.

I think he is sincere about not caring about playing and only concerned about winning. At the same time I think he is a little upset about splitting time. Maybe his poor game this weekend will light a fire under him.

Christ, y'all. Gurley now has a career ending injury? He is fed up with splitting time? I was miffed along with the lot of you, but step back from the ledge. Gurley is going to have a good game on Sunday.

Really interesting reactions regarding Todd Gurley in this thread. Huge Gurley fan here but let me play devil’s advocate.

Are we actually praising a guy who basically “didn’t show up” in the biggest game of his career? I mean, it’s great that Todd stepped up and took accountability for his poor play but he is actually getting a free pass here.

What if we didn’t have CJ? What if we lost the game? Has this even happened in the history of the NFL when an MVP candidate was benched for pretty much the entire Championship game? I don’t know, I love watching him play but when I see him get interviewed he seems like an odd duck.

Again, hate ragging on one of my favorite players but I think he’s getting a free pass because we won. If we had lost this would have been a huge story.

He's cool. And he's a team first player. IMO He was playing along with the competitive narrative of not discussing injuries. IMO He's got loose material in his knee, needs corrective/minor surgery, and is in a lot of pain. If you played the game through injuries you know what I'm talking about.

And this is exactly what Sean said aside from blaming himself for not getting Todd more involved.
