He was bad. Early on the entire offense struggled and generally seemed to be playing nervous / tight. It wasn't just Gurley. But his turnover leading to points, and the drop on 3rd down, led to McVay going with the hotter (or at least less cold...) RB. I think it was the right decision. I think Todd bounces back in Atlanta. If he doesn't we are very fortunate to have Anderson, who is not only a proven #1 RB but a veteran one at that who has been the big game before, performed admirably, and won. The Rams ground game should be in good shape going forward.

Gurly himself in post game Interview stated nothing was physically wrong he just wasn't playing well enough and cj was

It's called lying... Gurley and the Rams aren't going to give their opponents extra information.

It's clear he's still injured. I'm betting he's just trying to make it past the Super Bowl before he has surgery to fix his knee.

That's the joke. It's not intended to fool people, just mess with them.

If he IS healthy, and McVay was opting to go with a struggling CJ Anderson over a healthy Todd Gurley, then I’ve got some major concerns. CJ has been balling out the last few games but yesterday he finished with 16 carries for just 44 yards. After the first quarter, he didn’t really have any decent runs.

I understand Gurley started slow. He had the 2 drops. But he also only had 3 carries in the first half. One was for a touchdown. You don’t take away reps from someone like Gurley based on a few plays in the first half. Especially when the other guy isn’t giving you much.

Todd its okay brother - your still our best weapon, and maybe the best rb in the league.

I like CJ but he ain't no Todd Gurley.

Todd is the embodiment of We not Me, I don't know how we got so blessed to have so many amazing men on this team not just talent wise but character wise, that's why this is earned, that's why this is our year. Hoping Todd bounces back for 53 and has an amazing game

That Interview was totally Amazing! I always really liked and respected Todd Gurley but after seeing that Interview I have even more RESPECT AND ADMIRATION for him! I just don’t think you are going to see that kind of “TEAM NOT ME” response from too many “SUPERSTARS” after being left out of the majority of the game for your backup in a Championship Game like yesterday! Todd Gurley definitely showed a tremendous amount of CHARACTER AND CLASS in that Interview! I really hope he comes back to have a TREMENDOUS GAME ON SUPER BOWL SUNDAY helping lead the Rams to a WIN over the Patriots!!!

It takes serious balls to sit TG . Mcvay did it , Todd struggled and missed a few key blocks , CJ played better simple as that .

TG will be just fine and it you listen to his interview , he loves his team and coaches and they all backed him up

I think TG is being too hard on himself. Yes, McV has been riding the hot hand in Anderson and yes, TG has a few drops early. But he just didn’t get the ball and opportunities to get going - it was game flow. He will bounce back.

Am I the only one that has noticed that during pre-game warm ups TG is wearing a colored face shield but during the games no face shield.

Whats that all about? Remember when CJ first got here he was interviewed and said he had shared some "tells" with his other teammates.

I'm guessing here..But could that be an issue?

This is the most understated point. When you have a coach that has zero loyalty to anything but success, then you have a coach that will have success. Almost everybody automatically assumed that Gurley was hurt. Turns out he was just hurting our chances.

BIG balls to make that decision.

CJ is THE hot player at the moment, the freshest legs on an RB in the final 4, he adds a different dimension to our attacking game. Gurley could have had nerves, whatever, McVay saw that he wasn't at his best and CJ was called up and the guy balled, has done since coming to the Rams. This 'fat' man has a point to prove to the league.

Really interesting reactions regarding Todd Gurley in this thread. Huge Gurley fan here but let me play devil’s advocate.

Are we actually praising a guy who basically “didn’t show up” in the biggest game of his career? I mean, it’s great that Todd stepped up and took accountability for his poor play but he is actually getting a free pass here.

What if we didn’t have CJ? What if we lost the game? Has this even happened in the history of the NFL when an MVP candidate was benched for pretty much the entire Championship game? I don’t know, I love watching him play but when I see him get interviewed he seems like an odd duck.

Again, hate ragging on one of my favorite players but I think he’s getting a free pass because we won. If we had lost this would have been a huge story.

He's hurt and wasn't exactly given many opportunities to shine. If CJ wasn't there then Todd would've played more, simple as that.

Also, why is everyone acting like CJ dominated the game yesterday? Dude averaged 2.8 YPC and had 49 yards on 17 total touches. He wasn't any better than Todd, he just got way more opportunities.
