Tomorrow you'll start to hear how Jimmy G-string won't be missed now because St. Nick is our new savior...Can our 9-7 record make the playoffs, they asked ....

So stupid. And they are even going ape-shit over his stupid twitter verification.

Well I'm sure most of the SF media would be in favor of not keeping score and everyone having the same record.

I think it's a tank job. From the gameplan on down the goal is to draft very high with their pick, where they will have options of some high end rush prospects on the edge and the interior. I tend to favor the kid from Houston, but the edge need is real for the Raiders too.

I guarantee the owner and Gruden agreed, right out the gate, that the goal is to do what they need to do to pick high and reload as much of that roster as possible in the first couple drafts. That Raider roster was the oldest in the league, and in need of overhaul.

Pretty sure the Raiders will be heavy hitters in FA this offseason (they have like $70+M cap avail) on top of a lot of picks this next draft and the following one. So slamming the door on Gruden right now because he's lost the team is probably going to be a bit short sighted. Truth is Shanny and his merry band of dipshits are a roster in much better shape but probably not good enough to win this division next year, so not sure why they were acting like they'd just advanced in the playoffs and maybe in the long term view these two teams might have 2019 and 2020 futures that surprise a lot of fans.
That would be strange only because Gruden has always favored Vets over rookies. The vets on that team are not going to be happy about purposely losing. Word gets around, players will not sign with a coach like that unless they overpay. If that is Gruden's plan I have no doubt it will be a failure.

How does word get around? I doubt Gruden's dumb enough to be like "ok dudes we're gonna tank this game." I think it happens more than people realize, and probably is quite subtle. Chalk up a lesser gameplan in this league and you can easily suffer the kind of butt whoopin they just got from the whiners, particularly when you know Shanny is outstanding at the tactical side of things.

This league is so competitive it doesn't take much.

Also re: Gruden liking vets, that doesn't mean he doesn't recognize the requirement of good drafting. And when you take over the oldest team in the league who also happens to be a losing roster, it's inevitable.

If that's what Gruden is doing it's going to blow up in his face. His record shows he's a below average coach. We will see how his plan works our in the future.
