I agree with all that; and, maybe, they can sign a solid free agent or two to fill a couple of those needs. However, as years pass, I become less optimistic on Free Agency.
Most Big-$ signings are over-priced, and for players that have performed well for other teams. Most of us loved that the Rams had money to spend last March, and many of us were happy with the Rams signings. However, none of the bigger-$ deals have translated to high quality performances. I think Curl, Parkinson and Darious Williams have been OK; and I am hopeful Jonah Jackson eventually contributes (2025?). However, none of them, in my opinion, have excelled thus far.
The Rams mostly let their free agents go; and I would prefer they over-pay a few of their own guys rather than other teams' players. I hope Alaric Jackson is retained mostly because I don't think it would be easy or cheap to replace him. I kind of go back-and-forth on Bobby Brown for the same reason. Might want the versatile Hoecht and even Atwell back on reasonable deals (if possible) but all their other pending free agents are replaceable in my opinion.
My point on a player like Luther Burden is that he may be a quality prospect, at a position of need that may be available when the Rams select in Round One. Unfortunately, the Rams can address only one of the positions listed above.
All the others will need to be addressed via free agency (the Rams should have some $ but not a ton) or with other draft choices (after Round 1, the Rams would not select until Round 3, with two picks ... low-80s and around 100 ... where they got Corum and Kinchens).
Maybe the Rams hit big in the 3rd Round, like they did with Byron Young, Kobie Turner and hopefully Corum and Kinchens Sure hope so but the reality is the Rams just picked-up off waivers a player that was the 16th overall pick just one year before Jared Verse was selected 19th overall. The Rams nailed it with Verse but the Draft ... even Round One ... is a gamble.
The Rams will have just one Premium Piece of Capital (their #1 pick) to address Just One of their Primary Needs ... Cornerback, interior-DL, Wide Receiver, Left Tackle (if Jackson is lost), Off-Ball-LB and Tight End.
