Tight End class in draft

At the end of the day, I don't see anything about Taylor that says special talent or game changer to me. I see solid. A guy that has impressive movement skills as a lesser Loveland, smooth as a route runner, and a solid consolation prize in the late 2nd/early 3rd. I don't really see the aggressiveness or physicality those top tight ends seem to have. And I'm not basing my opinion off of bulk stats, media scouting reports, or keeping up with the hype. I've watched every target both guys had last year. A few times actually I've been more locked into the draft this year than usual. And no, I don't think Taylor does what Fannin does if the roles are reversed.

Anyway we all know that "F them picks" Les Snead isn't looking for "solid" in the first round. And McVay wants a shot of adrenaline to keep his passion for the game going. They want a guy that's going to make plays like this:

The best player ever from Bowling Green I think was the WR legend Scotty Miller. Although Fannin Jr. physically overpowered his opponents-I would not draft him higher than the 3rd round. To me he looks like a shorter and less athletic Kyle Pitts/Gerald Everett clone.

Unlike Kyle Pitts, Fannin can actually block - and do it well; advanced college stats showed that he was a better blocker than almost every tight end in this class. To say that he's a poor blocker just because he's a smaller receiving tight end doesn't characterize what kind of player Fannin is.

And the best player from Hofstra before Marques Colston? Best player at John Carroll before London Fletcher? Talent is talent, and Fannin had many offers to go to other places but decided to stay at Bowling Green because of loyalty. And how is that supposed to be a bad thing?

I would gladly take Fannin in the second round over Taylor and Arroyo, and I like them both.

I’m not a huge Fanin guy, but the Rams used Kupp a lot like a TE for much of his career. I’d say in a weak receiving class I could see them taking Fanin, even at 26. I wouldn’t be excited about it.
