I haven't watched much of Helm. You say YAC machine .... does that mean he has above average speed? Any defenders going to catch him from behind on those screen plays?
It seems when the Rams run that play, our TE's seems to get tackled from behind sometimes.
From just the little I've seen, he doesn't have blazing speed but he's such a smooth runner that he picks up 5-10 extra yards after the catch through navigating tackles and finding lanes not too mention him carrying a player or two once in awhile. He'll get tackled from behind but he's gonna get you some yards first.

Regarding Harold Fanin .... It seems that he has a higher run blocking grade than any of the other guys ranked higher than him overall.

I know it took him 2 days to get acclimated to the competition at the Senior Bowl, but by the third day he was comfortable and winning most of his reps. He also had 2 great Wham blocks in the running game on the last day.

I don't trust PFF all that much let alone their college graders. But I'll be very surprised if Fannin has issues blocking in the NFL because half that projection is willingness and he's willing. Haven't watched all his games, as finding small college film is rough. But to me I think his blocking as a negative has been overplayed a bit by draft evaluators.

As it pertains to concerns with us taking him I think the bigger question would be whether he's up to snuff in elusiveness we have grown accustomed to with Kupp, and the contested catch side of things. Can he be that guy for us. I'd say there are other better fits, but he has the look of a McVay type at that position, and again I love high volume players because some guys just end up being important for numerous reasons, and whatever those are he has them.

Time to move this to the draft forum. Also no more making fun of Fannin for his running if you watched Helm run LOL

Great point! I remember @WestCoast talking about Helm and how he was so fluid as a runner. I watched 40 yard dash and almost started giggling. He looked like the least athletic of all the TE's in the 40 and some other drills. Although, he satrted to look better near the end and had a good gauntlet

You have genuine concerns. However, Daniel Jeremiah expressed what my thoughts are regarding Fanin during the drills today. Fanin is tough to bring to the ground. Just get him the ball in his hands and an 8 yard play will turn into 16.
A high majority of TE's go to the ground after they catch the ball and encounter the first defender.

Taylor at #26 would not upset me in the least.
If he was the guy the Rams wanted, they certainly could not expect him to be ther at #90, so why not?
Mason Taylor looked outstanding in the on the field combine drills.
He very well could be a 1st round target.

Well, fluid and speed are different. On tape he finds running lanes super easy and slides by tacklers for an extra yard or two regularly. He's def not a speedster.

Edit: oh damn, just saw his 40 time ewwwwww

If a team likes this kid and there's reasons to discount this (injury, sickness, nerves), it's great for them today.

That's a disgusting time though
It's a disgusting run, period.

He looked like me at elementary school mile - and I was last place and took almost an hour to finish.
