My god The Witcher 3 is so big... I've barely made a dent in it running around trying to do side quest and level up but I feel like a hamster on a wheel. To make it worse ( a good problem to have) my wife bought me elder scrolls online for Father's Day. Anyone playing it? Played for a couple hours and I like it. Then there is that little game coming out tomorrow called Arkham Knight...

Which program? Speedfan is the one i use my cpu.

I'd check the thermal compound - how long have you had the cpu and when was the last time you've applied the paste to it?

And anything above 75 degrees is dangerous, careful

Yea, last time I had a CPU spike that high, I had some throttling. I didn't notice it this time. I'm not at home so I can't tell you which program I'm using.

I'll try Speedfan.

The build is 2 years old. But like I said, I can feel the heat on the CPU cooler radiator. That should mean that there's a solid connection between CPU and cooler. Perhaps I'll buy some new thermal paste and re-seat the 212 EVO. Or, maybe it's time to upgrade to this beast. Noctua Nh-d14.

Yea, last time I had a CPU spike that high, I had some throttling. I didn't notice it this time. I'm not at home so I can't tell you which program I'm using.

The build is 2 years old. But like I said, I can feel the heat on the CPU cooler radiator. That should mean that there's a solid connection between CPU and cooler. Perhaps I'll buy some new thermal paste and re-seat the 212 EVO.

Hmmm I would think your paste is fine then (unless there's not enough).. yea I'd try reseating, maybe even try cleaning it?

I have 2 dogs w/ carpet - with the way my case/board is designed I pretty much leave the side of it off when gaming (part of it is that my sound card has about an inch or less in space from one of the cards), and I hit my GPU and CPU fans every day or every other day a little bit. That dust/dog hair adds up quick

some people think I'm crazy for doing this but when I want a real good thorough clean, which i try to do every 6 months or so, I go to a buddy's or find an air compressor that has a water separator and hit it with that...does wonders, but don't do it without a separator (and be somewhat gentle of the smaller/weaker parts)..

You'd be surprised how much dust gets caught in the PSU - by far the most of all the pieces in the machine

When was the last time you physically cleaned your computer? The two biggest culprits for overheating are insulation (the computer not being able to breath thanks to dust) and the thermal compound going bad..

I'd try the first the one as the easiest fix - get the canned air and target the video card and cpu fans through the case

If that doesn't work, most likely the thermal compound/paste needs to be reapplied to the video card (this is the paste the transfers the heat to the fan to blow it out..when this goes bad, your laptop can keep over heating.) I had to do this on my gaming laptop not too long ago, which was about as old as your computer. thermal compound is cheap (under $10). however getting to your video card is the fun part

That might be best buy online - what they carry in the store sometimes isn't always the same. If you have amazon prime that'd be your best bet.

Idling at 75 is way too hott - you start to do damage above 75, and when you're in the 90s you most likely have begun to damage the card. If you keep gaming on it at that heat, you're gonna be buying a new laptop instead of thermal paste shortly, especially at those temperatures. You honestly don't even wanna go above 75 or 80 - I never let my desktop get to 75, and if it does, I turn off the game and clean it or find some kind of way to improve the air flow.

Don't know if you have any but you're most likely going to need a non-magnetized micro screw driver to open up the laptop, or just buy one of those computer kits they do have at best buy or online. You get anything magnetized near crucial parts (like your hard drive) and you could do further damage

"Finished" Arkham knight the other day with everything done but the Riddler challenges. Found out that if you do all of the side quest after a certain number (6 or 7) you get locked out of seeing the ending until you complete all of them. But then if you complete 6 or less you get to see the incomplete ending.... What the hell?!!!

The Riddler trophys are fun and all but I only went after all of them in the 1st game and said never again. Really disappointed that they chose to do this. Other than that and to much batmobile I really enjoyed the game.

Now back to witcher 3.

Pokémon update!!!

I'm going into breeding and evolving mode for a lot of my Pokémon. I'm using all of my legends to help with the whole evolving process. I've got almost all of my guys evolved. The hardest ones I've had were Balalaika the Volcarona and Abrams the Hydreigon.Need to have some trade-evolutions, but I'm not sure when I can do that; the Wi-Fi is pretty spotty. I have also found a swift swim Poliwag after much searching and dedication, so yay me!

I would like the following Pokémon to add to my ever-growing collection: a regenerator Corsola, a regenerator Slowpoke, an unaware Wooper/Quagsire, a speed boost Whirlipede, a prankster Liepard, a tinted lens Hoothoot, and an overcoat Burmy/tinted lens Mothim. I can trade damn near anything you want save for legends.

Does anyone here play Elder Scrolls Online?

I've been playing for about a month or so and I'm at level 22 (go LumberTubs!) and so far I'm enjoying it.

But, I can see how in the near future it might start to get a bit boring. Most of the quests obtained seem to be one of about 3 variations; go and find some missing person or save a town from a curse/plague etc. The only thing that seems to change are the names and locations.

I gather that when I get to a certain level I'll be able to explore more provinces but presumably that'll just open up more of these quests that are very repetitive.

Anyone else in the same boat or maybe someone can tell me where I'm going wrong?

You got it post-release like a smart person. The game in its first month of release had a shit ton of bugs (tried jumping from building to building only to glitch myself into the gray void) This is why I hate preorders and Day 1 purchases.

I haven't caught on any games all summer. Does anyone play Company of Heroes 2? I'm eager to get back into it but I lack motivation at the moment.

If you do anymore than 6 ( I did all but the Riddler trophies) it locks you out of the ending until you finish every single one including the Riddler and then you get the real ending... I was pissed to read they did that on purpose without warning anyone.

Well really I got it b/c it was free lol. I like the mechanics of it, plus I love the use of long weapons.
