You're not the only team with superstars. We've got some really good players (Walker and Wetherholt, in particular, are absolute studs, Masyn Winn is one of the best defensive shortstops in the game, Ivan Herrera and Alec Burleson are extremely underrated hitters, and Rainiel Rodriguez, a nineteen-year-old catcher who is crushing Double-A, and possibly Joshua Baez, an outfielder who is a top fifty prospect in baseball, could very well join them).
With some savvy trades at the Deadline (and honestly, the 2026 draft was one of the best drafts - thus far - that I've seen the Cardinals have in ages), we very well could compete with the Dodgers sooner than anyone thinks. Not this year, obviously (and I never said it would be this year, just "sooner than anyone thinks", so I don't understand why you find it to be "funny"), but the next few, I could definitely see it, especially if our prospect pitchers (such as Liam Doyle - a top five pick - Jurrangelo Cjintje, Tanner Franklin, Yhoiker Fajardo, and possibly Tegan Kuhns and Brandon Clarke being the main ones, but there's a lot more) hit.
For now? For now, I'll just enjoy the season as it goes along because we're currently playing with house money. Nobody expected us to be this good; as a matter of fact, there were a lot of people who thought we'd be amongst the bottom five. Nobody expected Wetherholt to be the front-runner of Rookie of the Year. Nobody predicted Walker to be an All-Star caliber player (and win the Home Run Derby, for that matter) who could get MVP votes.
