Brendan Donovan has been dealt to the Seattle Mariners in a three-team trade including the Tampa Bay Rays for a top-100 prospect (Jurrangelo Cijntje - pronounced "Sain-juh, Mariners"), an outfielder who could be a top-100 prospect if he cuts down on the swing-and-miss (Tai Peete, Mariners), a fourth outfielder with decent speed (Colton Ledbetter, Rays) and two Comp B. picks from both the Mariners and Rays (projected at #68 and #72).

I love this trade as a Cardinals fan. Now do JoJo Romero and one of our catchers, see what else you can get, Bloom!

Also, on Cardinals' prospects? Rainiel Rodriguez, a catcher, looks like an absolute stud. He's putting up video game numbers in High-A (.333/.465/.596 with more walks than strikeouts), and he just turned nineteen in January.

I know it's early, but I'm bullish on this kid, and I think he should be promoted to Double-A, even though he'd be super young for that level. Rodriguez has the best hit/power in our system since Oscar Taveras (Walker had/has power, but the hit tool was questionable, while Wetherholt has an elite hit tool but not as much power).

He might end up being a first baseman/third baseman at the next level, but there's a lot to be excited for, and I think he's a potential top ten prospect in the MLB in about a year, especially if he kills Double-A when he gets there.
