Some strange play calling by McVay in the second half.
A great run pass balance in the first half.
I think everyone knew the Eagles were going to make a second half run.
I don't understand....and maybe I don't get it....but, I don't understand running a wr sweep to the short side of the field. That was a minor thing.
Throwing deep on third and two seemed to let the defense dictate where the ball was going. They matched up Adams one on one outside and the Rams went deep. I do understand why, however, that is a low percentage attempt on a deep ball at a key moment.
Then on fourth and two to run a deep hand off going behind Limmer at RG is nonsensical. Makes zero sense.
I think Limmer needs to not come in at G really under any circumstance at this point. The Eagles ran a lot of man coverage which surprised me.
The holding on Shelton was brutal timing, took 4 points off the board....although he should have gotten a 2 point take down. That was a big boy hold.
Stafford was not good today.
Missed some gimme throws for first downs (especially the 3 yard out to Adams) in drives that resulted in FGs. They drives may have stalled out anyway, but, not very Stafford throws. The Stafford Staredown was in affect today. Only 5 players caught passes today.
That said, when it was nails time, Stafford got it done by just locking onto Puka and some good running.
No excuse for two blocked kicks....that is bizarre. The offense came through with a clutch drive in the last 1:44 or so and looked cool and under control doing it.
Now that I have calmed down from throwing a baby fit at end of the game....there were some good things today.
The run game looked really good. Over 5 yards a carry.
I think Dedich should remain the starting LG. He is playing very well in both phases.
Corbin looks great. He seems to have taken another step from last year.
Young had another impactful game. The Rams effort to beef up against the run seems to have been successful.
People get on Forbes and he gave up that TD late, but, that is a tough spot. Maybe he gave up outside leverage too soon but he also made some good plays. The Rams don't have a CB to match up with Brown if Witherspoon isn't there. Witherspoon is over 6 feet tall and has enough physical presence to hang with him. The Safeties played well over all and Lake had four pass break ups.
Overall, a brutal loss that was disappointing.
Gotta finish more drives for TDs is the take away.
That and keep running the ball.
Two more challenging games coming up.
The Colts have a good roster and are sort of sneaky good and the Whiners are the Whiners.
Ever forward.
