So Ratboy is definitely a top OC. But that’s far from being a great HC. Great players and great offensive schemes have led to exactly 0 SBs for the 69ers.
I believe his window has closed as a HC in SF.
He's been a Head Coach for exactly 9 years. He's in his early 40's. The book is written on him as a Head Coach??? Did Reid have a Title 9 years in? Or did he have to fall into Best-QB-Of-All-Time to start winning them?

Would you rather have "Super Bowl winning" Head Coaches Mike McCarthy? Doug Pederson??? How bout we get Gary Kubiak out of retirement. If McVay were to walk away in the next 5 years (not saying i want him to at all!) Id thank the Gods, if Kyle Shanahan was available, and you can have Tomlin, Harbaughs, Payton, rather have this guy.

If he ever had Quarterbacks on the level we have, he probably has a Ring already. Now, im not sure if thats a Shanahan problem or a Lynch problem.

I won’t punt them out.

The problem for Shanahan now is he's only the third best coach in the NFC West!!!!
Mike MacDonald says, "thank you for letting Darnold get away for Mr. Irrelevant".
McVay says, "those regular season losses hurt but that postseason win wipes them all away!!!"

Fratboyish culture?
Bend at the knee?

It's out there now, so it will be an issue that snowballs, as long as he doesn't win the SB.

I don't like Shanahan. But only because he's the 49ers coach. If he left the division I'd probably be happy to see him succeed somewhere else. If they ever fired him I guarantee you he'd have a number of suitors who would hire him quickly. Especially a team with a young, promising quarterback. Imagine what he'd do in Vegas with Mendoza.

Dude always looks like he's working off a hangover and I can't guarantee he's not. I'm sure that profession takes a huge toll on a mind and body. Kyle has really aged horribly in the time McVay still looks young and exuberant. I get the feeling he can be a miserable SOB to work for.

I wonder if that apple/tree theory applies?
