Aiyuk might be playing by November. But I seriously doubt he'll be any better than the guy who had averaged 3.5 catches and 53 yards per game before the injury. And zero TD's. After he got paid. Don't remember what the dead cap would be if they cut him but its a huge amount making it better to just keep him.

McCaffrey ain't gonna be anywhere near his OPOY season. Its possible that achilles problem is chronic. At least its what some suspect. And he's about at the age where heavily used running backs begin their decline. And he got paid too.

Then you have Trent Williams who will be 37 this season. He'll probably find a reason to hold out again. He tends to act like he can do with or without football. His 21 million dollar cap hit this year balloons to 39 million next year.

You get your diehard 49er fans who think their team is still a legit contender. To them Purdy is elite. Aiyuk will playing at an all pro level in September. McCaffrey is still elite. Those are the delusional ones. The others see the writing on the wall. Its gonna be a full on rebuild the next couple years. With no championship to show for their troubles.

Damn, I'm getting a huge schadenboner again.

I hate to say this but we were a shit show during much of Georgia's years.
Aside from the 3 year GSOT period there was a long stretch of inept football that began around 1990. Even after Georgia for a while. Whoever decided to take a chance on a 30 year old coach has got to be commended for that decision. It was a franchise altering decision.

Worst record in the NFL in the 1990s. And that includes a 13-3 record in the '99 Super Bowl season. Amazingly bad, that...
That 6-42 record for 3 years in the 2000's was brutal too, maybe the worst 3 years in a row in NFL history. Thank goodness for Steven Jackson. He at least gave us some hope every game. When Georgia died, the team was literally, for a moment, in the grasp of Shahid Khad! Think about that 49's fans. We would have been your punching bag for another 50 years. Oh, how the football Gods knew I had suffered enough and had mercy on my soul.
