Eric Crouch to me.
Take a running QB to convert to S.
Dude shows up to the first day of camp in a limo then retires shortly there after.
Hidden Safety, Crouching Dbag.
Martz firmly on the Mad Mike train with the logic behind this pick.

Brian Quick was a pretty bad pick. Still kinda pisses me off.

He was selected in a spot we should have traded out of (first pick of round 2 on second day.... gulp).

Jason Smith probably gets my vote, though, of recent years.

“Hey fellas. Didn’t you hear @Dieter the Brock He said ‘Mike Schad’.

Now if you’ll excuse me, I’m trying to clean up. This thread is closed.”

I’m going with Jason Smith. GRob just has a touch of the tards I believe and just can’t get right!

Jason Smith was just terrible. And had ZERO heart.

I know it was supplemental, but I really thought Isaiah Battle was gonna be a beast.

Bradford would be my disappointment. Such potential. But made of glass.

Thanks for reminding me how many early picks the Rams wasted in years past. Maybe it is a good thing that recently they have been trading early picks for established quality players; ie Cooks & Peters.

I’d argue that it was Tavon Austin

He was so bad they gave him a $40m extension.

Did he deserve it? No, they should have seen how he went and let him play through his 5th year option. But he was so dangerous the year before they probably felt it was the cheaper option in the long term. However he fell off a cliff after he got the big money deal. That's on him, he didn't try to become great player. Even mcvay couldn't get anything out of him anymore apart from the jet sweep. He wouldn't even pass the ball to him.

You really have to know the player before you give him a big contract. If they don't live and breathe football then you're better off trading them or letting them walk before handing over big money.

Didn't he try to convert him to a wr?

Obviously a tie between LTs Jason Smith and Greg Robinson both picks set us back and created holes that should have never been there. It was like a ripple effect. As an example Smith sucked so much we took Saffold to make up for that total failure. We needed a TE, but instead we are forced to take Saffold, and the next pick was Gronk.

A second place award goes to Rams trading back with Chicago 5 spots to take and we end up taking Isiah Pead when the pick was always Wagner was supposed to be Bobby Wagner who should have been the pick if Fisher wasn't GREEDY. Clearly Pead isn't in the league of flames outs like all the other names other posters have mentioned, but I chose Pead because Wagner was the pick. Just goes to show you how bad a bad team is with inferior management.

Third goes to Sam Bradford just because he is not remotely a star. He was hurt in college and he played on the best offense just about ever in college ball. 8 of the 11 players got drafted by the NFL 4 made the probowl. Sam was the recipient of a dominant offense, a terrible defensive group of teams he played. Not really the 3ed worst but I hate Sam Bradford pick so I am bias. I kept saying we shouldn't draft him, but at the time QB was clearly the biggest need so I can't fault choosing him to a degree.

I agree with those who say it's gotta be Lawrence Phillipps. IMHO, it's not close.

Say what you will about the others-- Robinson, Jason Smith, Tavon, etc.--but at the time they were drafted, there was at plenty of reason to hope they *might* be good.

Philipps was different. There were unbelievable red flags with him. Before that draft in 1996, I remember thinking, "Okay Rams, in this decade you're already proven to be one of the worst teams ever in the history of the NFL, please don't be insanely stupid and draft a criminal headcase like Lawrence Philipps."

Never in my lifetime have I been so against a Rams 1st round pick. I love to drink the kool-aid like everyone else, but with Phillipps, I never bothered to try, because it was so obvious he was a disaster waiting to happen.

He spent 23 days in jail in less than 2 years with the Rams. They cut him the following year.

One of the reasons Rich Brooks would be headed to a prison camp if I were king.
