I saw a post on Facebook listing every teams worst draft pick. The list didn’t seem to go back too far in time. But it named Greg Robinson as the Rams worst pick.

I’d argue that it was Tavon Austin. He was supposed to be the ultimate offensive weapon that could run the ball and receive it. They traded up to draft him so he cost more than his original slot too.

Or maybe he’s just the most disappointing.

Lawrence Phillips, Eric Crouch and Jason Smith were all worse picks then GRob. At least he's still in the league.

Tavon was a good player for the team his entire tenure. Whether it be on STs, running game, or gadget plays, he produced.

Did everyone forget about the 2006 and 2007 drafts????

Good? What was he good at? He couldn’t run routes. He was very easily knocked off course or tackled. And he had some punt returns but regressed with them too. A lot of people had high expectations for him. I don’t think he delivered on any of them.

Austin was a disappointment, but he did produce some value at least.

Robinson was horrible for the Rams and taken at #2 overall, so that was horrible, although at least he's still in the league after a trade and being unwanted by his next team. Not a great player, but eventually has shown he belongs in the league, at least.

Nope, I'd have to go with Canidate. In a system and with a HC who should have found a use for a shiny toy like that, he showed he was useless.

When we traded up for Austin I truly almost destroyed my tv. three my empty mug again the wall inches from the tv. You don't trade up for a tiny gadget player at best. So painful

I dunno boys..... but the Donnie Avery pick was pretty turrible. ESPECIALLY considering ALL the WR's we passed on, including DJax. Brian Quick was almost as bad, great WR's we passed on there too -- that one's on Snead, but I have to think that Fischer had a hand in that too -- he seemed to like the big strong fast "shoot we'll coach 'em up" types.

The problem w/ the austin pick was that it was extremely pivotal in that the fisher regime re-tooled the defense and brought instant results, respect, and fear.
The offense was next.

We needed a WR and there were plenty in that draft.
I wanted Woods. We have him now. I would've "settled" for hopkins, or the guy who went to the chargers (memory fails me today).

We also needed help at safety and that draft was deep in that regard as well. I wanted reid, who went to the 9ers and made all pro as a rookie.

Let that sink in. The Rams could've easily had both in 2013 but came away with 2 players who have since been traded and lost their 2nd rounder that year as well. Maybe an OL in the 2nd?

The 2013 draft could've put this team in a much better position moving forward.

Ya considering all the draft capital invested & the "low" returns, I'd agree, but at one point he was pretty involved in our offense & had some production. I think his low value as a WR was what did him in -- he wasn't that dangerous WR that opposing DC's had to account for deep. Screens were what they had to watch out for with TA, which actually did some good damage. So I can't really agree that he was our "worst" pick ever.
I honestly think that Stedman had a hand in TA being a dangerous WR when they both played for WV -- Steddy was such a key WR for them, he was WV's "Kupp" type guy who wasn't fast but was very smart & always got open, leaving those college D's with a "pick your poison" decision in defending against Steddy or Tavon. Which made TA's draft value artificially high. Without a dangerous WR#1 on the opposite side, TA's weaknesses as a WR (small catch radius, questionable hands, limited route tree) was exposed.
I have high hopes that D. Henderson will make us forget all about TA.

I was in a relatively happy place until I clicked on this thread. This took me down a few notches.

Has to be Lawrence Phillips. The guy had numerous off the field issues, but we took him anyway. He not only didn't produce for us, but he had more off the field issues, culminating in running over three kids for no reason.

I can't think of a worse draft pick than Phillips.
