I've read that Spanos hates Kroenke so I can't see him spending money to line Kroenke's pockets. Unless he is going to get a piece of the other revenue streams like parking and concessions but I doubt if Kroenke conceded that in the negotiations. That's the real money and the reason he is building a stadium. Maybe that wording is in the agreement but I find it unlikely.

That could make it harder for the Raiders to get the votes necessary to move, possibly setting the stage for an attempt by owner Mark Davis to move without approval.

I've changed my opinion after what the NFL did to STL. They set forth a set of guidelines, essentially requirements, for a team to move but the Rams didn't meet any of them and were allowed to move. So votes by owners won't matter. And frankly a big check from another relocation will appeal to many of them. If Davis wants to move he's going. Any "efforts" by the NFL to stop him will be cosmetic.

I live in Vegas and they are gonna need people to travel here to buy tickets. Arena football was gone in 2-3years, ECHL hockey folded, and I expect the NHL team to be gone within 4-5 years. Pretty much everyone here is from somewhere else and has a favorite team. They wI'll be like me and when the Rams come play I'll go to that game but the others? Meh

I live in an area that is much the same, you see every teams gear/bumper stickers from every major sport around here. I think it's the biggest reason sports teams in Florida struggle with attendance sometimes and why you see so many opposing teams fans in the seats. That said it will help that it's Lost Wages and I can see die hard fans making a 3 day weekend out of it if they can afford the travel.

Sports betting won't be something that keeps them out of Vegas. If it was they wouldn't have gotten this far along the process. You can currently bet on sports events played in Vegas and Reno. The industry s so heavily regulated and monitored now that pro sports leagues have very little to fear.

The NFL does have regulations where current players can't be endorsed, sponsored or associated in any business venture with a casino I doubt that'll change but there are easy ways around that.

The Raiders intend to leave Oakland for Las Vegas. Despite the best efforts of the league office (which ultimately haven’t been all that good) to make the case for keeping the team where it is, owner Mark Davis has $750 million in public money waiting for him in Nevada, and nada in California.

As mentioned on Sunday’s edition of NBC’s Football Night in America, the current view in league circles is that the Raiders “definitely” will move to Las Vegas. Ultimately, it will be difficult if not impossible for the NFL to get nine owners to oppose relocation, especially with the effort to compare Las Vegas to an existing market resulted in the league office pointing to Indianapolis.

Few would confuse Indianapolis with Las Vegas, and it’s going to take a lot more than that to get more than 25 percent of all owners to take a stand against the team’s desire to leave.

As to the difficulties that Davis and Sands casino owner Sheldon Adelson have experienced in reaching an agreement, one source with knowledge of the dynamics explained it simply, and bluntly: Davis will find someone else (or multiple someones) to stand in Adelson’s shoes, if Adelson doesn’t want to do a deal.

However it all works out, it’s looking like Davis will be out of Oakland. But while the Chargers are expected to make their move to Los Angeles immediately, the Raiders could spend up to two more years in Oakland as their new stadium is built in Las Vegas.

Look for a final decision to be made in early 2017. Barring a major and unexpected shift, look for that decision to be the creation of the Las Vegas Raiders.

You know, if his hair wasn't so absolutely hideous, it would be funny...I can't imagine that somebody with his money (or no money for that matter) would be seen like that....He actually PAYS for that shit ??? As soon as I said that I immediately thought of the other finalist for "Worst hair ever seen on this planet or any other"...One is a wealthy owner of a NFL team, the other a much, much wealthier soon to be President of a large country...What kind of deal is this ???

Raiders to file for Las Vegas move

One of the strangest weeks in league history also wasn’t very surprising.

With no viable stadium plans in their current towns, the Chargers and Raiders have each taken the available steps to move. For one franchise, it was automatic; for the other, most boxes need to be checked.

As widely expected over the course of the past several months, NFL Media has reported (i.e., the NFL has announced) that the Raiders will file a request for relocation from Oakland to Las Vegas. If 23 of the 31 other franchises approve of the move, the Las Vegas Raiders eventually will be born.

According to the Bay Area News Group, Sands casino owner Sheldon Adelson still may not be involved in the birth. Goldman Sachs will bridge the gap between team, league, and taxpayer commitment and the expected cost of a $1.9 billion stadium in Las Vegas, if a deal can’t be struck with Adelson, who has been driving a hard bargain with Raiders owner Mark Davis for weeks.

Last year, lawmakers in Nevada approved $750 million for the project. The enormous contribution of public money will make it difficult if not impossible for the league to embrace a city that, for decades, it had shunned.

The requirement of 24 votes to approve the move means that only nine teams can come together and kill it. There’s currently no momentum among the owners, however, to build a coalition large enough to block the move — especially since any effort to do so could spark another round of antitrust litigation with the team that successfully won a legal battle when the league tried to block its move to Los Angeles more than 30 years ago.

As some have suggested, the move to Las Vegas could reinforce the status of the Raiders as the most popular team in Los Angeles, even though the Rams and Chargers are both headquartered there.

The league won't try to stop it because Davis will pull an "Al" if they do, money is a given regardless of Sands Corp since they already have the vote from the state, and there's too much money here that want to see UNLV benefit as well. And lastly the Raiders are going to own the southwest not to mention all manner of their fans flying in from Timbuktu to catch a game on their Vegas weekend.

I think @-X- called it, too, with Sin City Raiders. If Davis is smart he'll use that as his official label, and I'm sure it'll tweak many of the owners lol.

Put me on record as someone who despises team moves.

The connection between team and community... I understand the owners have a certain right to make choices about their companies... but these arent McDonald's franchises.

I feel for the cities of SD and Oakland, just as STL. It's just not a good feeling. Maybe that's just me.
