Apparently, the counterpunch is a HEAVY dose of B-gap power runs using Everett or a WR as a FB.

I'll make another post about Akers, but yeah, this kid is SNEAKY fast, has the best change of direction we've seen since Faulk and is very patient. And when I say sneaky fast, McCourty, who's one of the fastest in the NFL, had to really pour it on to get an angle on him at one point. That's breakaway speed right there. Not quite Gurley, but as close as we've had...and that includes Hendo.

Maybe we will see a Fullback integrated into the offense next year

I dunno about that, but I can see them using one of the TEs as a FB. McVay even lined up Everett in a traditional FB set when the Rams were in an I formation. I couldn't believe my eyes. a McVay Rams team in I formation.

If McVay was trolling Belichick at all in this game, it was going to the I formation twice in a row.

I still can't get over it...LOL. It was the antithesis of what McVay's known for and the first time they ran it, I think the D was surprised that they just ran a straight B gap run from it.

Everett did a very good job on his blocks today as did everyone.

this is why I keep thinking this game against the cheaters is pivotal. They will face a defense just like Miami’s. Can they get through it without he turnovers? Will McVay have a real answer to that defense? And, will Goff and company be able to execute it?

If the answers are all yes then it will be a huge step forward. If not then this team still has a lot to accomplish.

The answers were indeed Hell Yes. :horns:

Wendell Tyler could really run the ball though but I always held my breath when he was carrying it.
